Overview of FredoSketch

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Sketchup version: SU2017 and above
  • Platform: Windows and Mac OSX
  • LibFredo6: v14.3b or above
  • Usage: Free

FredoSketch is a suite of base tools that extend some of the native Sketch tools. The first tools published are Move and Rotate.

Move extends the Sketchup Move tool with the following features:

  • Multi-selection of Objects
  • Multi-selection of Vertices
  • Smoove vertices with various falloff methods
  • Vector and Plane constraints and inferences, including local axes
  • Individual object translation
  • Repeat translation
  • Automatic smooth of autofold edges
  • Wireframe mode to catch more inferences
  • Launch by calling twice the Sketchup Move tool (e.g. MM) - For SU2021.1 and above

Rotate extends the Sketchup Rotate tool with the following features:

  • Multi-selection of Objects
  • Multi-selection of Vertices
  • Smoove vertices with various falloff methods
  • Rotation Plane constraints and inferences, including local axes
  • Individual object rotation (spin)
  • Rotation with offset
  • Rotation spread copies over 360 deg.
  • Repeat rotation
  • Automatic smooth of autofold edges
  • Wireframe mode to catch more inferences
  • Launch by calling twice the Sketchup Rotate tool (e.g. QQ) - For SU2021.1 and above

Installation of FredoSketch

IMPORTANT: Make sure that you have first installed LibFredo6.

FredoSketch is released as a regular RBZ extension file on the Sketchucation Site.

To download the RBZ file, use the red button on the right side of this page:

  • Download If your are already logged in.
  • Log in to get it! otherwise, in order to log in or to register to Sketchucation as a new user (this is FREE). Then you will be able to download the RBZ file.

Then, you can install the RBZ file from within Sketchup, via the Sketchup Extension Manager

If you are not familiar with the installation of Sketchup extensions and Sketchucation, it is advised to watch the video LibFredo6 installation.

IMPORTANT: Whatever way you choose, you MUST quit and restart Sketchup to get FredoSketch (and LibFredo6) properly loaded.

After the installation, you should have the following footprint in the Sketchup Plugins directory:

  • Language: English
  • Menus: by default, it is installed in Tools > Fredo6 Collection > FredoSketch...
  • Icon toolbar: FredoSketch

NO user manual, but each tool has an embedded QuickCard which gives all details and includes illustration videos. This help is also available in the Instructor panel.
