PDF Importer for SketchUp VERSION 1.0 for WINDOWS

PDF Importer is SketchUp extension allowing users to import vector PDF drawings directly into SketchUp, without the need for converting to DWG or DXF (CAD) first. CAD files do not bring text in upon import, where PDF Importer will bring in your text!

The current version is WINDOWS only but our MAC version is coming soon!

Say goodbye to Inkscape and Adobe Illustrator (0), PDF Importer brings in even large PDF drawings. Bear in mind that images, bitmaps, etc. will NOT come in because they are not vectors. Also, the PDF must have been created using some sort of CAD system, a scanned image will NOT be vectors and will not import. Just as when using Inkscape or Illustrator, only one page at a time can be imported using PDF Importer.

NOTE: Some PDFs can be quite large and SketchUp file sizes can get bloated quickly with unnecessary text, etc., so a good practice is to delete unneeded text, title blocks, etc. and purge any unused.

To use PDF Importer, download PDF Importer from estimatorforsketchup.com and use Extension Warehouse to install the downloaded .rbz file. Go to

Extensions > Import PDF File > Choose File > Choose Page (if multiple pages) > DONE!

PDF will import the drawing as a group and will be centered on the X,Y,Z axis (origin). The next step is to set the scale for the drawing. To do this, double- click on the group to edit, choose two points where the dimension is known. Using T for Tape Measure, simply click from one known point to the next point, then type in the desired dimension (measurement box) and hit Enter. Verify scale using a few other dimensions to make sure the dimensions drawn were not altered.

It is as simple as that!
