How BIM objects work

All the BIM objects you find in our cloud based BIM object catalogue are based on real products. We always work together with the product manufacturers and we build the digital products as close to the physical AEC product possible both for 3D representation and with the correct product data and properties.

You will find products from various branches and industries, but they are all tailored to be used for Building Information Modelling.

Product manufacturers invest in BIM objects to provide you as a BIM user with their real products as free content to your BIM system. Since it's all free, you are asked to register. Product manufacturers want to know that their investment in BIM object technology is useful and that it provides value for you as a BIM user. You will save a lot of time when using branded real BIM objects and the quality of your BIM model will increase radically.

INSTALLATION and API key

Setting up the Bimobject® App for SketchUp is easy. The app communicates with our web server so the web server has to know who is asking for information. For this you need to register and retrieve your personal API key. After the initial installation and after you have entered the API key, Sketchup will remember your key and you don't need to be logged into bimobject.com, it is all automatic.

HOW TO:

• First things first. You NEED to be registered at http://bimobject.com

• To find your license API key, you go to you user account at bimobject.com

• The API key is clearly visible at the right bottom. Mark it and copy.

Note: Your API key is personal so don't give it away and only install it on your version of SketchUp.

• Install the Bimobject® App for SketchUp. (If you haven't already done so) Paste you API key into the open field for registration and off you go!
