Sketchup 2017 and housebuilder plugin
-
Hi guys, i've just downloaded Sketchup and installed this plugin.
When I select Draw - House BUilder - Floor tool and selct my specific lumber, in this case it is 50x75mm and Joist spacing 0,60mmI make it 3meter by 3 meter and I brign my measure tape up and measure from endpoint to endpoint of the joists i get ~3,03m why is that? I selected the x axis and type in 3,00 and hit enter, and did the same for y, but yet it measures to 3,03m?
Anyone care to help a total newbie out?

What do you get when you set out guidelines at 3m from both the red and green axes? Try that and then run the floor tool using the guidelines as the reference instead of typing the dimensions.
Measure the distance between joists. Are they all the same? The last space should be narrower by the width of the joist.
Also, it would be useful if you upload the SKP file so we can see it.

Hi Dave, thank you for your reply!
I have created guidelines in blue and red axes.
Eventhough the axes are exact 3.0m the joists are total length of 3,03m
The first two joists are from endpoint to endpoint 0,35m the rest are 0,30m. Last joists are about 0,28mThis seems odd to me, why'd you even have to create a guideline?
Is there any way to change the numbers of lumbers in the plugin? It says 50x50, yet they're 45x45 and so on..
I'll add soem attachments
Thanks in advance

So the next problem is that pull/push wont line up to the joist either. Am I the only one having all these problems? I am sure this program is used by thousands and thousands of users, but at the moment it feels very crappy. Though I am sure there are a good explanation for this,
I can either get the joist to long, or to short. There are only two "steps" how I can "drag" this joist out.

It was only meant as a test because at the point in time I was replying, you hadn't supplied anything useful for me to diagnose the problem.

If you pay attention when you start the Floor tool, you can set the size of the joists and the spacing. The number of "lumbers" is automatically determined.
Looking at the SketchUp file, I suspect the reason you are having problems is due to the very coarse precision you have set and that you have Length Snapping enabled. Improve the precision and disable length snapping and try again. I expect it would also fix the issue you are having with Push/Pull although you should still be able to infer the distance by moving the cursor onto the neighboring group.
I'm using the imperial version here but I get exactly the dimensions I entered. I have precision set high and no length snapping.

I've done as you said, improved the precision to 0,000 and removed "Enable length snapping" that did help with the push/pull tool issue. But the other issue is still present.
Only difference now is that it says 3,050mm instead of 3,05mmDo you think it might be the plugin House Builder that may be causing this? Because if I do a straight line of 3,000mm it is the exact length, not more, nor less..
As the question of lumber size, I know that I can adjust the joists spacing, but I would like to change the size of lumber from 50x50 to 45x45 since the lumber is actually 45 and not 50mm
