[Plugin] FixIt 101 (Version 1.5.0)

[Plugin] FixIt 101 (Version 1.5.0)

Attempts to turn groups into solids. Primary purpose was to automatically finish holes, but looks like its quite successful in attempting to solidify and clean-up the model too. Don't use this technique for cleaning models as it might remove faces that you need. Use TT CleanUp instead. This plugin was specifically designed to intersect holes and remove internal faces.

ThomThom let me use his merge faces technique, which properly detects if faces are co-planar, thus safe to merge.

Features
  1. Add faces at desired locations.
  2. Remove duplicate/overlapping faces.
  3. Remove most internal faces.
  4. Merge coplanar faces.
  5. Remove single edges.
  6. Repair split edges.
  7. Repair split curves.

Usage
  • Select entities you want to fix and then select the plugin menu. All sub-groups and sub-components will be fixed too.
  • Select plugin menu with an empty selection to fix the whole model.

No, not yet in the pluging store. I want to make coplanar faces to merge properly, or at least give it to ThomThom for his cleanup collection. I bet he will know how to complete it. Lets see what he has to say.

I installed this plugin using the Sketchucation auto install on my Sketchup 8 program and when I restarted Sketchup it gave me a Bug Splat error that I cannot recover from. To make it worse, The error doesn't allow the software to send the report. Anyone know how to repair this? Is there a Sketchup restore option? or do I just have to uninstall and reinstall everything all over again? Very annoying and it is halting my production.I have the error report but no one to send it to.

Maybe it has nothing to do with the plugin. I will check it out on my SU8.

Meantime, all SU8 plugins are in C:\Propgram files (x86)\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Plugins\

Once you get there, try deleting this plugin, and restart SU. If the crash still occurs, try erasing the whole god damn plugins folder and see what happens.

I keep having it remove glass out of my windows... Otherwise I am very happy with it. Any way to keep this from happening?

How do you model your window glass?

.25 between two faces that are both facing out. (if I have more the rendering program does not have much transparency)

Hello Anton,
I use this plugin so much that I have keyboard shortcut assigned to run it. Problem is that I sometimes accidently run it while nothing is selected....which of course runs FixIt on the whole model. Sometimes no problem, but in very large & detailed models it can be bad news.
So my question, is it possible to add a warning dialog box like, 'You are about to FixIt the whole model. Proceed? 'Yes' or 'No'. Or maybe easier, is there a way to disable running on the whole model, as some plugins won't run unless you have something selected? Maybe snippet of code I can copy/paste into the rb file?

Thank you,
GD

I wouldn't touch a plugin with such defect. Fredo and TT have alternatives (though separated)
