I am also preparing a children's book image.. here are parts of two of the images. It is about experiences a pink owl!
I drew the lines using a felt-tip, toke photos and colored them inside the laptop.

Thank you, Mike. What I like the most about Krita is RGBA brushe and its capabilities to mime after real oil color brushes with a thick paint layer.
