Postby millerjx » Tue Jul 28, 2020 9:48 pm

Where do styles used in a SU model reside?
Where do styles used in a LO model reside?
How can I save my styles so the show up next time I open and SU or LO document?
How do I get the styles used in SU to come with model into LO?

It depends on the version of SketchUp and to which styles you refer. In the most recent versions the native styles are in (on Windows) Program Data/SketchUp... The default location for user added styles is in User/App Data/Roaming/SketchUp...

The styles you can access in LO are coming from SketchUp. Either from your In Model styles or the other style collections as above.

In Model styles should show up automatically when you look at Styles in the SketchUp Model panel. You can also access other styles there.

If you want them to come in with the model, they need to be In Model. You shouldn't have to have them In Model to access them, though.

What version of SketchUp and LayOut are you using? Still SU2015 as indicated in your profile?

Thanks, Dave
I am running SU 2020

I don't have the styles in SU coming over into LO.
Maybe related, maybe not. I do not have the tags saved to a scene coming over into LO. I have to, I glad I can, reset the Tags in LO.

Thanks

Do you have a viewport selected when you are looking for the styles?

The In Model styles should be displayed automatically.

If you click on where it says In Model styles, you should be able to access the native styles as well as any custom styles you might have.

FWIW, I created a set of styles that match the ones I used to use in SketchUp when I created the various scenes I need for my LO project. Now I normally use a single style in the SketchUp file and choose the desired style for the viewport in LO. For the screen shot above, I intentionally used an older file that has three styles used in it so it would be evident there are in model styles.

Do you mean you haven't create scenes for your model? Although it is possible to set up views in LayOut without using scenes in SketchUp, I've found that it still makes better workflow if you do have fixed scenes in the SketchUp file link to the viewports in LayOut.

If you really aren't seeing styles in the SketchUp Model panel, I would wonder about the installation and if it was done correctly.
