How to set up a sunset light effect in Thea ?

Postby surprenant » Thu May 04, 2017 7:54 am

Everything is in the title ! What settings should I put for sun / illumination to get a nice sunset impression on my render ? What color temperature should I put ?

And what is the exact effect of the illumination if I put black for color ?

I made some tries but I still struggle with this.

Thanks by advance :-)

Use Thea artificial sky and sketchup sun.

Use sketchup shadows to position sun in the horizon or use Thea manual sun to position it.

Hit render...

Or use an HDRI sky and hit render.

Or mix HDRI with Thea sun and hit render.

If using manual sun with or without SU position you can increase/decrease it's size and intensity until you get what you want.

Then you can also use display settings to create camera effects and control exposure, temp and the likes or use a CRF to your liking.

Finally you can use Fog preset to create sun's bloom effect.

Also the sun in Thea Studio is physically accurate...

So play around with it to get the lighting scenario you need.

When you're happy you can save the Sky for re-use
