[Q/BUG] Problems with curves for areas

I have had some problem when trying to use curves for areas with v1.0.
It's a pretty heavy SU model and when selecting a welded curve to use, the clock appears and SU gets locked seemingly forever. I had to force quit a couple of times before abandoning curves as areas.
Now I'm back to splitting and grouping the ground geometry.
Anyone else having trouble using curves as areas?
Am I doing it wrong or is it a bug?

Does your curve have a lot of segments?
