SEO Urls for the Board

SEO Urls for the Board

I think the board could benefit from an SEO url mod.

currently threads show as this url.
sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=55289&p=501861#p501861

They could instead show as this url

viewforum.php?f=xx

forum-title-fxx.html (by default),
any-keywords-fxx/ (optional),
any-keywords/ (optional),
forumxx.html (optional),
forumxx/(optional)

this could help bolster the board's already high ranking for sketchup terms.

Here is one such mod... I'm sure there are others are as good or better.

Food for thought.

Well, an interesting suggestion....

I just don't know if it would have any positive effect on the search apperance or not.
Try in google e.g. "Fredo6: SU Clock" or "TIG: CutNfill v1.1" and you will see that the forum URL's are ranked above the other ones even in their current form.

However changing the URLs have a huge risk: There are thousands of 3rd party sites linking our forum's URLs. If we change them, all those links became unusable.....

Yes Sketchucation already ranks very well, but you can never rank well enough. as for the current links, not to worry the actual link which is the current one, will still work. The SEO url is just set as a new url. to combat duplicate content that can be seen by having the two working urls. a rel=canonical tag should be used to declare one of the urls as the one Serps should use.

This would not affect a lot of the great ranks it already has. however, it could increase page views for less searched for terms that may fill the forum from individual forum posts. noob questions etc.
