Re: My Images of the dayI did another Twilight Render last night.
SU Scene: After 14h25m at 1200x850: After a bit of Post Processing: And for reference, a photo of the real thing: Here's a link to the Picasa album with the full size images: http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/Paul.Russam/IOTD20090930?feat=directlink Paul Russam

Re: My Images of the dayThe only difference I see is that the real photo has a lot more light coming in from the windows.
![]() Perhaps rising "Sky Brightness" and "Maximum Sun Intensity" values from the Sun/Sky tab in Twilight's Light Editor might help get a bit closer to the real thing. Especially "Sky Brightness". But this is just nitpicking; you've done an amazing modeling job, Paul. You are really pushing SketchUp's limits. ![]() -Miguel Lescano

Re: My Images of the dayOK then, after 14h05m here's what we got:
Gamma 1.0 Exposure 0.7 Gamma 1.0 Exposure 0.6 Gamma 1.0 Exposure 0.5 Gamma 1.0 Exposure 0.4 The last one is by far the best settings. Well done to all involved with Twilight, and of course Sketchup, For this to render without crashing is a true achievement. After having worked on this damn project for so long I can't see it as anything else other than a collection of minor annoyances that need fixing, making better etc. So its always nice when fresh sets of eyes see it and write such nice comments. The phrase 'Familiarity Breeds Contempt' rings a bell ![]() Just so you know I do work on other projects, lots of them in fact, but non really worth posting here. Paul Russam

Re: My Images of the dayHi Paul,
Your work is indeed very impressive. I am fairly new to 3d modeling with SketchUp and am amazed what people like yourself can do with it. I have a friend from NI and was wondering what City or Town this church is in. Keep up the great work. Gregory Re: My Images of the dayGregory,
Its in Lurgan, on North St. Here's a link for Bing Maps, I'd have used Google but they have very little of NI covered. http://www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?v=2&FORM=LMLTCP&cp=t2b13hgg51z0&style=b&lvl=1&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&phx=0&phy=0&phscl=1&scene=18295866&encType=1 Paul Russam

Gregory Re: My Images of the dayWow......your renders look incredibly similar to the photos. textures are bang on mate, well done. I bet your model is very very heavy!! I need to read up this thread to see how you lit the scene so naturally. Beauties!! And the tiles......these little details just keep popping up!!

Re: My Images of the dayDid a quick anim last night using Smustard's flightpath plugin. Youtube seems to have over compressed the video resulting in the textures looking poor.

Re: My Images of the dayVery nice, Paul...
![]() I can imagine that although this is straight SU output, the animation took a loooong time to finish... You should be happy that you didn't need to turn on shadows and run the animation again... ![]() Cheers

Re: My Images of the dayBeen a bit ill over the past week but spent my time mucking about with animations.
I've knocked this up as a proof of concept, It ends rather abruptly and whilst the music suits, the lyrics don't so if it goes any further I'll have to find something else. Click on the link to see it in full 720 HD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HlhveesvwM Heres a link to the track, Its called Lost Property by The Divine Comedy Here's another one from Neil Hannon of The Divine Commedy........FECK! Re: My Images of the dayI really like it - very nicely and carefully put together (I don't even want to ask about rendering time).
If you intend to redo the end (and maybe the soundtrack which I like but now irrelevant here), there is a bit of Z-fighting at the end of the video (see attached). It's distracting and annoying enough I guess to get rid of it. Re: My Images of the dayDid you try Youtube's Audioswap?

Re: My Images of the dayChurch update:
The builders have been busy, makes you wonder if they're being paid by the shovel full: They've dug down about 1.2m as they found that there were NO foundations and had to put some in!! I've been busy on the model but nothing to show at the moment: New Floor design/patten New Pew layout/spacing New altar area Organ removed revealing 3 new windows Paul Russam

Re: My Images of the dayHi Paul
Good to see your work again. Loved the video and the FR Ted link brought back a load of good memories - classic. It must have taken you hours to model the church but It is amazing!! Well done our lad!! When you burn your arse - you gotta sit on the blisters!!
Re: My Images of the dayI'm always amazed how many large old buildings survived for so many years with virtually no foundations. I was studying the old Norwegian Stave churches, which were essentially posts on a stone or rubble. And they have lasted all these years.
Great work . Please keep updating Just monkeying around....like Monsanto
Re: My Images of the dayWow Paul! I'm well impressed!
![]() Fantastic work! This is what I'm up to, but my 'efforts' are, well efforts!! You have really inspired me now to render my design (something I hadn't planned). viewtopic.php?f=79&t=24066&p=206274#p206274 My book "Let's SketchUp!" Download from here
Re: My Images of the dayThose capitals are STUNNING! I'm so impressed with your attention to detail. How long did it take you to do this model? How about the capitals too? What was your approach to working on the details?

Re: My Images of the dayHello all,
I've not updated this thread for a while so I thought I'd show you what's happening with the church. This is the view that greets you as you walk in. The finished floor level will be at the base of the columns/top of the pyramid founds. View of the new foundations and recently stripped walls. Good view from the Choir gallery. Nice clean site eh? Once the plaster/render was stripped off this is what was found! The bricks disintegrate when you so much as look at them, a decision of what to do as not yet been made! Finally some Sketchup! This is the under floor heating. It consists of steel boxes (green) cast into the floor with convection radiators inside them. Grills (pink) flush with the finished floor top them off. A slightly closer view. Same view but with the floor(unfinised) and pews visible. The Monsignor decided on new deeper pews so its been a bit of a battle getting the new pitching to work within the old column/walls Another view of the pews but showing the nealers. Same again but with the nealers in the up position. I'm currently working on 3 different models; Floor/Pews, Dry lining, Organ/Choir area and at some point they all be recombined back into the master Proposed model. The old organ has been completely removed as it was found to be beyond economic repair, a new super-duper one is currently being designed. I may have been mistaken but I'm convinced that I heard the designer talking about a Hemi V8 powered turbo pump from a space shuttle main engine to power the lower notes, apparently it give a richer, smoother sound. P.S. In case your wondering, I do work on other projects, but none I can/could/would tell you about. ![]() Paul Russam
