Finally got a new laptop. Here is the result of my first render test. 15 minutes. 400 passes. The brass lattice on the wall would have caused my old laptop to have taken 4-8 hours at best.
Not a perfect render. Just a test. Model from the Warehouse. No mods or fixes.
Almost no aliasing. Wow.

A 16x to 32x speed boost is some leap. Its a good time to move to 20xx or 30xx nVidia GPUs with the 40xx announcement. Looking forward to seeing that Nadesico Cruiser getting some path tracing love!

Thanks everyone! I will be putting it into production by this weekend. I'm waiting on a new dock and then adding all the plug-ins I use, back to SU. My old dock only works on the old laptop. It's an old click mount dock. New dock has the USB C that I need.

Already got a scene in mind! Yeah, the new Nvidia 40XX series is insane.

1000 samples (passes) in 24 minutes. My... my head hurts. I put a little more effort into this render and changed the lighting settings, which made it run even faster.

Thanks tuna! Again, these are just test renders. I see problems with both, but this is just to get an idea of what the new PC can do.

Thanks Mike! Just got it set up with the new dock and it is now my desk production PC. The old one is going to the bedroom for late night YouTube. Still need to load all the plug-ins back to SU and do some other tweaking, but the hard parts are done.
