Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-FiHello everyone,
For those of you who remember, I did a sci-fi battleship inspired by Eve Online game back in late 2009. If you have not seen the WIP to the final model or like to take a look again, please scroll up this thread. I have also attached images of the final model below...a walk down memory lane. ![]() Anyway, I decided to use that spaceship in one of my illustrations done in October 2013. Instead of having it horizontally, I had it standing vertically. SketchUp + Lumion3D + Photoshop Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful weekend! _KN Another end-of-the-world concept: Follow Your Dreams.
Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-FiRemember that big Spaceship!
![]() An epic challenge! ![]()

Thanks, Carsten.
Merci, Pilou! Bonne journee! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Have a great weekend! ![]() _KN Follow Your Dreams.
Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-Fi
I remember the first time I saw it as well. I was very disheartened thinking I may never be that good. ![]() See my portfolio at https://delphiscousin.blogspot.com/

Keep up the good work, Bryan. It's all about doing what you love with passion and practice, practice and more practice because practice makes perfect as they say. ![]() Have a great weekend! _KN Last edited by ken28875 on Sun Feb 22, 2015 10:09 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-FiHi there,
Long time no post. Got really busy with work. Our game ChronoBlade is coming out soon in the Asian mobile market. I will post some concepts in the near future. Stay tuned. Here's a personal project called The Last of Them. SketchUp + Lumion3d + Photoshop Cheers! _KN Follow Your Dreams.
Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-FiIncredible as always.

Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-FiHello everyone,
Here's a concept of a Troll Helicopter used in Skylanders Trap Team. Have a great week! _KN Follow Your Dreams.
Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-FiThe new Meccano!

Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-FiLovely modelling as usual Ken. And great designs of course. Looks like that was a really fun project to work on.
Cheers A Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-Fi

>> Haha, thanks for the comment, Pilou. Bonne journee! ![]() >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>> Thanks for your kind words, Andy. Yes, it was a blast working on that project. When the game shipped, Activision gave me (and all the employees working on Skylanders Trap Team) a box filled with the game and a few extra figurines. My daughter and I have been playing it and Karoline is loving it. It's quite an experience to see your own concepts coming to life in 3D. It's kind of like when I was in architecture, it was great to walk into the buildings that I designed on paper (or SketchUp and Autocad). ![]() Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend! _KN Follow Your Dreams.
Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-FiGreat to see this Ken. I wonder how the simple block shapes in SU become carved sculpture in the rendering. Cool work!

Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-Fi
>> Hi Peter, some of the shapes are geos and others are just textures done in Photoshop. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hello everyone, Here's something quite different from what I used to do (e.g. environments and vehicles). These are concepts for guns similar to the ones you would see in movies of video games like Call of Duty. Thanks for viewing. Have a great week! _KN Follow Your Dreams.
Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-FiHello there,
Here are some more sketchUp concepts of guns. I will texture and render the second image when I have the time. Cheers! _KN Follow Your Dreams.
Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-FiVery nice work, Ken. I would kill for your imagination.
I'm surprised that nobody has raised a stink because it's not "politically correct" to even think too loud about guns nowadays. Or anything else for that matter. "Politicians are just like diapers -- they need to be changed often, and for the same reason"
Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-FiProblem is that the French actualities don't incline to these sort of things!

Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-FiBrilliant body of work Ken. The longer I look at your images the more impressed I become! the detailing is fantastic

Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-Fi@Steve, Pilou, John and Dale: Thank you so much for your kind words and support. Much appreciated. Apologies for the late reply.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dear Friends, Wow, it has been more than a year since my last post. I disappeared for a while, but don't worry, I am still alive and back with a bunch of new concepts. In case you were wondering what happened to me, here a quick summary. The company that I was working for on the mobile game Chronoblade ran out of funding and they shut down the Art Department and laid off the Art Director and Concept Artists. ![]() However, as someone once said, when one door closes another opens, I got a new job. But I had to move to Los Angeles (Sherman Oaks, to be exact). I am no longer working in the game industry, but in the entertainment/theme park type of projects. Indeed, the new company is Victory Hill Entertainment and I am currently doing concepts for Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N shows that opened in Paris, New York, Seoul, Las Vegas and Singapore. Check out the website: http://www.victoryhillexhibitions.com/ I am also doing concepts for the upcoming Hasbro Transformers shows. I can't wait to share some of the latest concepts with you guys. In the meantime, I can show you all the concepts I did for Chronoblade. The concepts below are for the introduction chapter of the game. Chronoblade is a mix of fantasy and sci-fi, therefore I will split my concepts in the fantasy and sci-fi threads. Thanks for stopping and have a terrific week! ![]() _KN Follow Your Dreams.
Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-FiChangements but always imaginative creation!

Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-Fi@ Pilou and Bryan: thanks for your comments.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Here are a couple of concept from the same location, which is the Chronarch Ship (the enemy alien race in the game). This is the battle with the Empress before she flees and then the chapter 1 of the game begins. You will have another opportunity to fight that boss at the end. Have a great weekend! _KN Follow Your Dreams.
Re: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-FiThat is geometry that seems more complex than your usual landscapes.
