Twinmotion - New Architectural Visualisation Software

Twinmotion - New Architectural Visualisation Software

Postby Tandem » Tue Sep 02, 2014 6:53 am

Their website is very shy with details about the program and the company behind it, but they claim compatibility with all modelling software including SketchUp and the video previews show very simple user interface.

The domain name was registered in 2005 by Vidal Laurent from KA-RA, a consultancy and architecture firm based in Strasbourg, France.

The trial version is not available yet, but looking at some of KA-RA's projects in their gallery and other comments on their website indicate that they have been using Twinmotion in-house for a while.

Just Another Vapourware?

Postby Tandem » Tue Sep 02, 2014 7:09 am

Hmm... maybe TwinMotion is not that new as the site seems to indicate. Anyone knows more about this? I found some references to the so called The Rendering Killer as far back as 2010.

http://therenderingkiller.com is registered by the same person and now redirects to Twinmotion.

Is this just another vapourware?

It was VERY hyped before it was released with small teaser animations every other week or so. Right before Lumion came if I remember correct.
Sadly the hyped died out as soon as they released pricing info and most users choose Lumion that was initially more attractively priced. (Have been raising the price ever since though.)

I'm hoping the new release will fix some of the problems with the old release, low frame rate was one of them, as I think it has a more professional interface than Lumion.

A bit odd that they removed all trace of the previous versions as if it never existed. Looks like they even wiped 3 years worth of their forum content. Looking at the current forum they are at Beat3 at the moment.

Thanks Frenchy, I am aware of that very slow response times in my experience. I meant a "live" forum like here. There seems to be a complete lack of one
