Kerkythea Users Unite!Hey guys,
I by no means am a KT expert, but I think that I am starting to get to know my way around the program. I have noticed a couple of KT pros here, I think I saw Frederik, and maybe Tomasz, and perhaps Fletch... Anyways, hope we can all grow and learn more about this fabulous program here! PS: First Posties! Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!Hi,
I am pretty new to Kerkythea and I have used it to make renders of a fantasy city I made. I'm definately not an expert either. I guess we have a lot to learn about it. ![]() (Peter) Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!I'm still getting to grips with it. Having the faces the right way still gets me everytime.

it seems that when the next version of KT and Su2KT release u wouldnt have to worry too much bout the reversed faces!!! ![]() Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!
Well, that would be really nice! I'm always quite consistent with face orientation but when for example it comes to windows, you need not create "double faces" however thin they are for instance. Or sails for ships... Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!orient faces is great, for simple objects, but as soon as you're working with a little more complex mesh, I find, it starts screwing up pretty badly! more randomizing your faces than anything...
Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!I downloaded KT, but I find my free SU excludes exporting the proper file types. I'm an old hobbiest restricted to freeware so I can't justify investing in the "Plus" versions of anything. (Of course, there's always the lottery!) So- if there is something out there like a workaround, I'd appreciate hearing about it.
I had an older homebrew computer that could run Blender and Yafray, but this "nicer PC" can't handle it. It's all fun, either way- keeps me out of the pubs. Okay- back to the barley pop.. ![]() (RegH) Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!Reg,
The su2kt exporter should work with the free version of SU as well as the pro. There must be something else... Re: Kerkythea Users Unite! The su2kt exporter should work with the free version of SU as well as the pro.
Yes, it does I'm using both and having one hell of a lot of fun while I'm at it ![]() Luv you all, Bill Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!Reversing the face isn't the problem, its remembering to do it before exporting to KT.

just curious... Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!I'm in the uk. Maybe i should change my profile to say UK?

Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!Where can i find this exporter, coz i've only got the generic exporter

It is my first post in this section of the Forum, although I am not a novice ![]() Tomasz Author of Thea Render for SketchUp
Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!I have not used Kerk for several months now
![]() What is the latest version so I can download it for my new laptop? Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!Hello guys
Since the terrible decision made by Google to move the groups and to abandon the old forum I did not spend much time with Sketchup. I am very glad to see that this forum is taking it place and the community still survives and keep the spirit. Soon a major release of Kerkythea will be available with incredible new features. We spend many month testing and debating the new features which certainly will make Kerkythea the most powerful freeware render engine available. Tomasz also revised the SU2KT exported which will bring incredible integration to SU and many more features. Finaly a Mac version of KT will also be available with the forthcoming release. I know that Frederick and Tomasz can take care of most of your KT question here but just in case you can also visit the official KT site. Thanks Clipi Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!I am not sure who knows who in the world of CG, however I am sure that the 'code guy' at Kerky knows the 'code guy' at Podium, so they should talk as Podium has just overcome the face thing, without reversing faces the render engine will render the front face regardless which way it faces.
I am sure it's a geeky code thing...but it makes life so much easier. KT is a cool looking app...I will wait for new upgrade and give it a whirl.
Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!Hello Clipi,
Nice to see you here ![]() I intend to update my exporter to Pov-Ray for V6, but I don't know if anyone is interested. Kerkythea is much user-friendly than POV... (Didier Bur) Didier Bur

I can give you a hand testing SU to POV for old time sake.. but as you know I got involved more and more into KT development. As you know KT is being updated so frequently with so many features. I wish we could get to see you there more often. Right now we are thinking in IES support for the next release... Thanks. (clipi) Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!
It will happen in SU2KT 2.3, which will be available soon, as long as only one face will be painted. Tomasz Author of Thea Render for SketchUp
Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!Tomasz,
You mean, for instance, that if I have a single face as a window, I can only paint one side (face) of it with a transparent colour and it will apply from both sides in Kerky? i.e. I shouldn't paint the other side? Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!Yep. It will be no difference if you will paint front or back. It is really helpful especially when talking about transparent faces.

Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!Cool. Transpaernt faces bugged me all the time (I always model everything else with double faces/thickness anyway...)
Looking forwart to it! Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!Well, I pretty much live at Kerkythea's forum now...(much to their dismay) but try to visit here as often as I can... don't have much time
![]() I can tell you, the next release of KT will blow your socks off! It has mine... I don't even bother putting them on any more... but I digress. Tomasz's newest exporter for SU2KT is SU2KT on STEROIDS. He will have to go into hiding from the IOC after they see his coding prowess. I thought SU2KT was easy to use before, but now I just shake my head... can't believe it's all free.
Re: Kerkythea Users Unite!Fletch, my heart just skipped a beat whilst reading your post. I guess its true what my GF says then, I'm a geek.
