Installing SketchUcationTools problem

Installing SketchUcationTools problem

Postby DouglassJohns » Fri Mar 24, 2023 8:51 pm

I recently purchased a license for the Curviloft extension and am attempting to activate it.
I am using Windows 10 and Sketchup 2017
Successfully installed and used the 30 day trail version.
Following the install instructions, downloaded SketchUcationTools_v4.3.0 and attempted to install it.
When I try to open the file it opens Sketchup 2017 and says “file not a model" and closes.
I must be missing something simple?
Any suggestion to get me on the right path?

Thank you … Doug

Use the Extensions > Extension Manager dialog and click Install Extension to install the .rbz file

An RBZ is an archive which needs to be installed.
You do not open it with SketchUp.
Download the file onto your computer - typically in your Downloads folder.
Should your web-browser be mis-set to try and open RBZs then change its settings to do a simple download and save.
In SketchUp use the Extension Manager and install the RBZ - navigating to it as prompted by the dialog.

The SketchUcation toolset's RBZ contains several utilities and the licensing system.
Once it's installed you can use the ExtensionStore³ dialog to browse our PluginStore and auto-install selected extensions, without the need to download anything.
Unfortunately you need to get the RBZ for the toolset itself and install it with SketchUp's Extension Manager dialog, for the initial time - should there be a subsequent update to any of our installed extension the ExtensionStore³ dialog will tell you and let you auto-install them - even the SketchUcation toolset itself !

Thank you Rich and Tig

After reading the installation instructions, I somehow convinced myself this was a stand alone program that ran outside SketchUp and not just an extension.

It installed fine with your instructions …

Thank you
