iClone & SketchUp Contest

Postby Gaieus » Fri Nov 05, 2010 3:46 pm

Reallusion and SketchUcation are proud to announce the

'Bring Architecture to Life'

rendering contest. The goal of this contest is to use the powerful combination of Google SketchUp and Reallusion iClone to create the most visually appealing architectural renders possible.

Utilize your creativity and eye for architecture for a chance to win various prizes, including an Apple iPad and Sony Cyber-Shot digital camera. Reallusion... offers full software suites of Natural Elements props and other packages to enhance your creations as well.

There are also special prizes for the most popular renders this time around. The 'People's Choice' award will go to the image/video that has the most 'likes' on Reallusion's Facebook page. The 'Buzz' award will go to the image/video that has the most unique comments (from different users). Simply upload your render to the event page, and get all your friends to come vote for you!

Isn't it rather ironic that the first prize is a nicely spec'd Apple iPad, but if you are a Mac owner (or Linux user for that matter), your out in the cold because iClone won't run on either of these OS's?

As for those socks.........

Wow. I just can't figure this out. Downloaded the free version and can't even figure out why characters, scenes, props, etc. show up in plain black or plain white. How do I get the colors/textures? Do I have to apply them myself? How? This is frustating. I can't find any tutorials about this either on their website or elsewhere. Someone with experience, please help.

Hi SN,
Iclone has several shaders to play with, Pixel shader is the best one but in order to be able to use it you have to have a video card that supports it. Iclone run on directx 9c, so you need a card that supports it. Here is a link to the video cards that supports it:

http://www.reallusion.com/iclone/iclone_trial.asp just scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Hope this helps,

Are you the same person (going by nickname) from years back that was on the Podium forum and works with Pixar or was it Universal studios?

I believe you are thinking of Disney. This is taken from his tutorial page.

"So who Am I?
I'm a 3d artist with 20 years experience.
I have worked on two major TV series ("Star Trek : Voyager" and "Deep Space nine"). Also worked for Disney, Nickelodeon, and Electronic Arts as a senior artist and an Art Director. I've also done movie trailers and music videos, as well as worked on six animated feature films. So if you ask yourself, does this guy have any experience? Does he know what he is talking about? well what do you think. ;-)"

They are on the upper right hand corner of the main viewport, in there you will see two pull-down menus, one for cameras and the other is for shaders, depending on the video card you have it will only support a few or all. Just try them and see.

@solo
hey man long time no speak, yup at the podium forum im known as the lightingFREAK! :P

Yep. That's what I thought. I guess that means it's my video card. =/ I tried on the other computer but when I tried to install it it gave me an transfer error something or other about denying access to download languages. Then it closes. Blarg.

Hey Urgen, that's interesting. I have not been successful at getting a textured model over to sketchup yet. Would you mind sharing your pipeline?

Thank you very much,

Hi
Due to Reallusion amending the rules and now allowing submission on the Reallusion Forum as well as Facebook of which I am not a member and did not wish to be just to enter, I have now put forward my small contribution.
The model I used was Dutch Colonial by BmrCT. Which I have given credit for in my video etc.
Anyway here are the 2 links to the forum where I have submitted my Stills and my Video entries.
