[Q] Limey grassAnyone else find the textures for the library grass a bit limey? I have photoshopped the saturation down about 35% on the 3 blade textures and it renders much more realistic to me. The yellowness of it seems little nuclear.
Re: [Q] Limey grassDid you lower the saturation on your render, or on the texture files themselves?
Re: [Q] Limey grassI lowered the saturation on the texture files in the Skatter library, down about 40%. They just seemed really yellow to me. A couple of clients made comments that the grass was too "neon green". Maybe I am just shooting for more of a Kentucky Bluegrass color because that's what are used to seeing locally.
One thing I loved was the AutoGrass plugin for Max. You had a few varieties of grass types, which was really a lovely plugin to work with. http://www.happy-digital.com/autograss Re: [Q] Limey grassI altered the grass files for the same reason you mentioned - lowering the yellow, increasing the blue and resulting in a cooler green.
Re: [Q] Limey grassI guess it's a question of "cultural taste".
Here in Belgium I feel Thomas' grass is great, if a bit saturated. There a lot of clients that like "happiness" more than "realness" so the saturation please them. And the yellow hue gives more warmth than a strict cool green. Example: For me: is clearly too green-saturated and is too dark and cold, and too desaturated. This is neutral and this is nicely happier (and very close to Skatter default grass).
