[Q] about Areas: exclude objects

Postby optimaforever » Thu Dec 10, 2015 11:53 pm

Is the "exclude object" algorithm based on bouding boxes of the objects or their real geometry?
I have a japanese stone path on grass, and I try to avoid grass to "happen" amidst the stones but the excluding of the stones takes ages. The stone geometry is quite hi poly.
So I was wondering if the process was faster if I had modeled a lowpoly version of the stones and used it to generate the excluded grass patch?

Yes, the "Object areas" calculation is based on the geometry of the objects, not the bounding box. So the more geometry, the more time it takes to compute.

Thks. I realized that myself yesterday night.

I modeled a basic boxy versions of the stones and the exclude algorithm was as fast as lightning.
Good to know... :D
