General discusson for Skatter for SketchUp

Some nice and cosy Hobbit Holes. I did some heavy (almost comic like) color adjustments, added sunlight, lense flare and sky in photoshop. Appart from that its straight out of SketchUp / Thea. 2015-12-09_HobbitHaus_v01_small.jpg Learning to know / love Skatter. Also finding out, where the difficulties are (e.g. not so perfect placement on borders, like where the grass hits the top beam of the house)...

the first Hobbit House image was only the test for this final version. Happy Holiday Season!2015-12-11_HobbitHaus-Weihnachten_small.jpg Modelled in SketchUp, rendered in Thea. Left it cooking for almost 22h with TR2 Engine. Photoshop for heavy color correction, sky, smoke and some texture-adjustment for the wood.

Wow, I love that last one. The blue light on the trees is amazing. HDRI only? Reminds me of these: https://www.google.se/search?q=brothers ... 65&bih=896

Thanks, guys. Actually, HDRI didn't give me the results I wanted. So I placed a big, blue, very strong area light a few hundret meters away... A colleague of mine pointed out that it looks like "Monkey Island"

it does look like monkey island, great job plotparis, very dramatic high contrast image, the only thing that i would change is the first plane flowers, they are just a bit too bright for me, i find them a bit distracting, but i guess it´s ok for this surreal world.

Here's a exterior image I made with SketchUp, Skatter and Thea with some post pro in Photoshop. Skatter was used for grass and bushes. Original render was 5000 pixels wide. Svardfisken_2016-01-18_low.jpg

Good to see the potato harvest went well on Mars!
Seriously though, good job. The first of the three scenes somehow reminds me of Farcry (computer game).

Examples of Skatter usage on a lttle bigger scale.
On the first pic, all the greenery is skatter-generated, but the cutout trees. And the 3d people is skatter-gen'd too.
On the second pic, there's a mix of skattered 3d people and cutouts, but all the greenery is skattered.

Office patio example.
All the greenery had been generated by Skatter.

I had lots of weird behaviours on this one. Skatter created lots of ghosts proxies (names *#1, #2, etc.) and crashed non stop. Yet I managed to finish the job. THe difficultu was that there were aerial shots AND close-up shots of the same model. I ended managing all the different scale skatters manually, scene by scene. There should be a way to manage the visibility of the skatters by scene. I used HUGE grass patch (5x5m) to lessen the skatter activity for the aerial. My skp file hitted the fan (300Mb and around 11 min to process the grass patch alone). I had to kill skatter to allow the file to load and reactivate skatter afterwards.

Very nice work, as usual!
I'd be interested to get that crashing file, if possible.
