Gradient dot decal on glass

Postby dazza » Mon May 10, 2021 3:51 pm

Hi Guys

I've been trying to figure this out for a while and not sure how to.

I need to do a tenant shopfront render but have a dot gradient effect on the glass, like in the following image.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks in advance for your help and input.

I would try doing it with a texture. The method of rendering determines the process. How do you mean to render the image? The texture would need to be a png to be partially transparent.

Oh, we are in Thea. The above applies. Ask at the Thea forum for more detail on applying the texture.

Not sure what results you need but it is possible in many ways.

Thanks, Solo, the 2nd image is close to the effect I need.
How do you do that?

Thanks.
I've been out of the "Thea" game for a while as I've been using Twinmotion a lot.
I tried adding a png bitmap but it came out very blurry and not crisp, not sure I'm doing the material layering right. And I use Presto.

I unfortunately find that the Thea forums are nowhere near as helpful or speedy as here.

It will be easier to give you the model with the material set up so you can see.
I removed my assets just room and glass.
Notice it has 2 glass plnes, the front one is driven by a mask and back one is a basic glass matt.

You may need to add an HDRI for lighting to get reflections

Thanks very much, that's brilliant and will work with what I have in mind.
I really appreciate your help!
