Having Issue with Material Presets

Postby valerostudio » Wed May 13, 2015 7:48 pm

With Presto active, I have a Sketchup material, I choose one of the preset styles (Plastic) it appears correct in Presto, but when I change the reflection % it seems to just go back to a standard diffuse material?

I start Presto, change the material on the teapot to plastic, then I set the roughness to 90 and I lose all reflection, it goes back to a simple diffuse material, stays this way if I change it to 80, 40, 22, whatever. It only seems to do this when I am using Presto within the SketchUp window, works in the Thea window.

Will posting bugs like this get back to the Thea team or should I post these things to the Thea forums?

Well I can't understand why there are differences but I can only guess that:

- The material preset has some kind of reflection if you don't tinker with it;
- As soon as you change roughness it assumes the displayed values;
- If reflection value is 0 there will be no reflection so roughness, that affects reflection, will have no effect too;
- Bump up reflection even just a bit and you should see the roughness effect;
- 100% roughness will look like diffuse only...

Downloaded the latest plugin from the forums and the issue is fixed now. THere is a new issue with emitters that's been logged by the Thea guys.

You reported two issues there. One was a Bug that Tomasz is looking at and the other is about light power. If you read that thread at thea I believe you could rethink that extreme light power approach and stick to camera settings so you can better control your scenes in a realistic fashion.
