Re: SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2012
Aidan One suggestion. Last year the un-conference relied on people coming forward willing to give talks on their particular subject. Could you somehow incorporate a "Suggestions Box" where someone like me could request, for instance a, Ruby Basics Session, and if there was someone willing to step up for that, it could be considered for inclusion? Just monkeying around....like Monsanto
Re: SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2012This is indeed a good suggestion. IMO last time it was a bit chaotic (if you do not mind the critics) and overlapping sessions caused a lot of problems to people as they kept changing until the very end.
Also, as it turned out, many was completely uninteresting (like mine) so if I had known that no-one is interested in that particular session, I would have been thinking of something else (or not give anything but sit in for an interesting one). Re: SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2012Agreed that it was chaotic. Since we have this online forum, wouldn't it make sense to suggest and vote on topics ahead of time so that the sessions can be planned out ahead of time. I think that would make for more useful and productive sessions.
As I recall, the first two Basecamps actually had formal schedules that were published ahead of time. By the way, it is much easier to justify to "higher-ups" that the conference will be useful when you can point to a formalized schedule and show them sessions that will be applicable to your work. Hope to be able to go.
Re: SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2012Hello All,
Like most international travelers, I plan on arriving the Saturday night previous to the event. This to get better priced plane tickets since they are considered tourism better than business. Also I remember last time I flew in for BC, I couldn't think straight on the next morning; due tio jetlag I had woke up at 3 in the night... So I think one day ahead of the event will help be better shaped for Monday morning session ! I really look forward being there again ! It has really been a game changer in my life. Only your own personal costs for accommodation, travel, food and entertainment. But that was previous events. There's a frontroom and a backroom....reverse faces
Re: SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2012
Folks are already setting up their travel plans, so it's clearly time to set a time (and find a place) for my proposed get-together! Plan to show up (somewhere) at 10am on Sunday, October 14th. Once we're there, we can decide on the rest of the day's schedule. As soon as I have a venue, I'll post it here. My plan is to meet other plugin developers, swap war stories and informal presentations, etc. Lunch, dinner, and a beer run are also likely to develop. Re: SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2012Right I am booking Friday-Friday as its £100 cheaper than Sat-Sat flying out of London.
Hopefully see a lot of you stateside! We should set up a subgroup for those of us who will meet up over the weekend before the event. Cheers Liam Last edited by liam887 on Mon Aug 13, 2012 1:24 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2012There are many ways to Boulder, swimming, paddling, or cloning (let's 3d print everyone who can't come in person)
Re: SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2012Pilou,
unless the sea level rise very very high there is no way one can sail to Colorado ! Re: SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2012
How about the Colorado river? The Grand Canyon must be awesome (upstream?) Re: SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2012If you're not planning on renting a car from the airport, how do you guys plan on getting around? Taxi, bus, etc??? Just curious cause I'm probably not going to be renting a car.
Re: SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2012There's a shuttle service (minibus) between Denver Airport and Boulder. We took it last time. It has its drawbacks if there are many passengers to be dropped on the way (ask Mike) but I was lucky.
Now for my life I could not remember the name of the service but it will certainly arise. Re: SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2012Called the Super Shuttle, costs around $27 for both trips (round trip) Y
Re: SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2012
I think it was Super Shuttle. Not really worth it if you can blag a taxi outside with someone else. [EDIT] Pete beat me... We were 3hrs+ on that bus last time ![]() There's a frontroom and a backroom....reverse faces
Re: SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2012I created a Google map that shows a bunch of hotels around the boulder area, and also points out the Trimble Sketchup office, and the Denver Airport, just for reference. I'll add the location of Basecamp 2012 once it is announced. Also, I think I added the ability for anyone to add markers on the map. Not sure if it worked or not. So feel free to put more stuff on there if you know the area or can think of anything else useful. If you can't figure out how, lol, I can add things if you let me know.

Re: SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2012I have a phone number for an Ethiopian taxi driver, he drove me from the airport to Boulder once...
3 person sharing a cab is just a bit more expensive than the shuttle, then it's 3 times faster ! to Gaieus : Upstream Colorado is a bad idea, you'd have to cross borders in Mexico, and it's very dry in southern California .. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colorado_R ... ain_future Re: SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2012
To be honest... depending on water in ANY way is a bad idea in Colorado... We got a LOT of desert around here... and spent the first half of our summer in drought! Good times... ![]() "Imagination is more important than knowledge..."
