I think it would be great.

This is a great idea, and pending scheduling,(and cost) I would certainly consider it.

Mike this is a great idea.

Could we start a separate moderated thread on suggested seminars, topics, speakers for BC2012.

the moderated part being someone to cull out the ideas and put them in an easily organized and readily viewed list such that lazy slobs like me don't have to read hundreds of posts.

No problem Phil. I will kick it off under a new topic and mod it. I imagine the TSU guys may well working on this end of things if this event is to push ahead. Maybe some suggestions might be of help to them now or in the future.

Hi folks.

I find it a bit strange that the 3DBC is not shown on this page:

Just ideas.

.... and for the smokers in our midst!

Taken from the Rembrandt Yard Q&A

Q. What is your smoking policy?
A. By city ordinance, there is no smoking allowed in our facility.

I was looking the 'yard' as I thought, 'Hello! that might work!' but no sign of a yard to be found

Why, the Scotland Yard also working the back yard maybe? Or are there plants in a power plant for instance?

Leper Colony...

We need ome benches there. I trust it won't be too hot in October o it1s not an isue that there is no shading there (hopefully it won't rain though - but bring your "Macintosh", Mike!) ;)

Well there is the hydrant to sit on or the bicycle stands but not too comfortable. Also the balcony might offer some sun shade or protection should it rain.

There also is Conor O'Neill's bar just down the road. Brad Schell dragged me there 'under protest' ;) for some wings and a beer back in 2006. As you will see from the attached pic they have what looks to be some sort of a corral for smokers

Hi there,

I read somewhere on SKU forum that this year BC would probably host a vendor exhibit. I've not heard anything about it so far. Can someone (@Aidan) help me to figure out how that works?

Thanks

Graziano

PS I look forward to seeing you all in Boulder @John, @Mike, @Csaba and everyone!

I have not heard any further details on the vendor tables Graziano but imagine Aidan will update on this. I look forward to meeting up with you again.

Bertier!

I don't think we'll be able to squeeze that into the existing itinerary; it's already going to be pretty packed. Would you be willing to stay an extra day (Thursday, maybe)? If so, I can ask Shara (our training program manager) if anything's possible.

Hi Aidan, any further word on this?

There definitely will be an all-day get-together for developers on the Sunday before the Basecamp:

  • We have a possible venue near the conference site.
  • We have a fallback venue, about 15 miles away.
We can carpool and/or share taxis if need be.
So, if you're a plugin developer and you're going to be in Boulder on Sunday, plan to attend! (Details to follow...)

I am not a plugin developer but am around on the Sunday so if you have room (and I am not asleep from my flight, or drunk with Pete in a bar) do you have extra room.

Plugin development is something I want to get into next year.

Cheers

Feel free to attend, Liam (and anyone else who is interested in plugins and such). Some of the discussion may get a bit technical, but other parts should be of fairly general interest. So, if you want to hang out with some developers, feel free to join us!

Rats! I wont be in until 6 or 7 on Sunday.

I had assumed this would have been during or after the conference itself.

I wanted to hear about all the goodies the creative minds have in store for the future.

Any chance of video(s)?

I'll be at the pub (Baker street) if one of you code-jockeys would be kind enough to drop by after the geek-fest and fill me in I'd appreciate it, oh, I'll buy the beer. :D (j/k)

To clarify things a little, the third day of the Basecamp will have a developer track. So, the Sunday gathering is mostly a way for developers to get together informally before the Basecamp starts.

Why not make that place the Baker street grill where most folks will be getting together? lots of tables and even a whole side patio for such a gathering.

I'd rather have a venue where we have a projector and such, in case anyone wants to show slides, etc. I'd also like to have a room to ourselves, so we're the only ones making noise. That said, I have nothing against moving elsewhere in the evening for dinner and drinks...

I decided to leave late on Thursday, in case anything interesting turns up.
Worst case, maybe some of us can go for a drive/hike/... :-).

Does anyone know if there are tickets available for Basecamp in October. I might be able to go - I put in a vacation request at work, hoping there still might be room for a Noobie at 2012 Bacecamp!
