I agree with Pilou. You should develop this adjustable stool concept a bit more. It may have great potential.
I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

I had assumed that the stool was roughly based on this design by Manuel Welsky.

Didn't see it before, but he beats me with seamless transition How did you find it? Is there a source for searching such ideas?

I knew the design from memory, so I can't say where I first saw it. I think it might have been featured on our very own fine design thread, but since I receive email updates from Contemporist (see link) the chances are I remember it from an old newsletter.
To be honest I think that the screw mechanism doesn't allow for as many seat options and literally screwing the seat up and down could be more cumbersome than your design. With the SCRW stool I suspect that the choice of seat material would also be limited.

Tell me, an object like this, do you use mirrored components? When would you use mirrored components and how do you deal with the mirror plane?
I am supposing these examples are simple subdivision and smooth, mostly without sculpting?

These are simple geometries and I didn't use the mirror plane funtion. pbacot wrote:I am supposing these examples are simple subdivision and smooth, mostly without sculpting?
They are all without sculpting, just subdivisions from the included proxies.

I would say that chair is not so simple.. but it's amazing how elegantly all that is worked out from a proxy that is simpler than you'd expect. I find that by only observing this thread, each time I try Artisan is better and more fun.

Here's something of a rainy afternoon. An ode to mushroom season (what to avoid) and a "THANKS!" to Cotty. Not so elegant, but REALLY simple. mushroom 1.png : MUSHROOM 2A.png I accidentally made a brush of it in GIMP, so I added some babies.

Nice, thanks for sharing (if you like, you can add the proxy to play with ). A little tip: you can use TIGs splitdonut (as a part of splittools) to improve the subdivision ...

Hey, cotty: I really like your gallery. It is nice to see some of your examples in one place. I went through the whole collection. The lens refraction study was interesting. All of the examples are excellent

Hi, I decided to be more serious about modelling... I think I might be on the right track and decided to share some models on the warehouse. http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/ ... &scoring=mI still need to understand why it's better to model with quads or tris only. And how to do it. If anyone can explain this to me briefly, I'd be thankful!
