Acht - Achter

Acht - Achter

Postby numbthumb » Thu Mar 03, 2011 9:19 pm

Hi,
I just got a little bit further with my model - there´s still pretty much work left to be done, but it´s getting there. Here are some test renders.
Hope you guys like it. Comments/critics are welcome!
Thanks for watching!

whoa... watch where you point that thing dood! :o

fantastic detailing. would be neat if you made a map for it and uploaded the map and let people have at different texture schemes...

old and rusty, camo, flat ship grey etc...

awesome job.

Thanks a bunch, Krisidious - I was thinking of giving it an old, worn-out look, but I simply suck at texturing. Hopefully, this is where Artisan´s Paint Brush could come in handy.
I´d be happy to share this thing, once it´s finished.
Oh, and here is how it looks in SU. 12,2 Mb and counting.

Edit:@ MuseumMaker: thanks, I´m glad you like it. The only true damage done so far is to my nerves :D

If you ever need that rendered please keep me in mind, it would make a frigging awesome playtime project.

How about a Render model, we can all play?

Thanks for all your feedback, guys!

@simon: thanks, my friend, I´ll try somethig different next time. I am not that interested in guns - things like these belongs in a museum ( although the mere choice is a typical Freudian lapse - I hope it doesn´t make me a trigger happy nut after all :D )
@Bryan K: it was modeled after the gun displayed at the Barcelona museum.

Not really :)
But I have been working on and off for about a year, mostly because of the HD failure
Luckily, there were plenty of spare parts from scrapyards :)

You must have one of these things in your back yard for reference. The detail is amazing!

Thanks. I intend to simplify those tiny parts, because they are "spares" from my previous models - I guess that chain links for instance, could have far less segments.
What do you think?

Boofredlay wrote:You must have one of these things in your back yard for reference. The detail is amazing!

Hehe, no, I used walkaround pics from the military museum of Montjuic in Barcelona and the Naval Museum in Tigre, Argentina as a reference.
Plus some of my own taken at Vierville-sur-Mer & Arromanches couple of years ago during my trip to Normandy.
