The theme for this challenge is Jewelryjewelry.jpg The recently modified rules are still fresh so please read them. The Official SketchUcation Community Forum Modeling Challenge Rules:
- For this challenge you will have 30 min. maximum for modeling and adding textures.
Your time spent is on the honor system, if you cheat you are only cheating yourself. - You can use an unlimited amount of preparation time for thinking, sketching, researching, collecting textures or scratching your head but NOT FOR MODELING. Again, this is on the honor system.
- From now on only one (1) entry will be allowed so choose you subject wisely and make it count.
If you post up more than one entry it will be removed. - For your submission please provide:
- A textured image.
- A hidden line or xray/hidden line image.
- Your image is to be SketchUp output only.
- Yes you can use the SketchUp Styles.
- No you cannot post a rendering using Twilight, Thea, Vray etc…
- A maximum 1000w x 800h pixel image is allowed.
If you post any larger your image will be removed. - Finally, as enthusiastic as some of you are about rendering and sharing please do not post any renderings in the gallery or post models in the component forums until the competition is over as they could solicit votes.
The textured image will be used for the voting element of the challenge. The community will vote for their favorite entry once the competition has ended and the winner will choose the next theme. Have Fun!
Competition closes on December 23th 2011 at 2pm GMT

Here's my attempt at the Gear Ring by Kinekt (I've been coveting this ring for a while so it was an obvious choice for this challenge). I wanted to bevel all the edges, texture the ring and tidy up some of the sloppy modelling, but ran out of time. Plugins used were Shape Bender, Artisan, Weld and the 1001bit fillet tool. The cog shape was created in Illustrator and imported as a DWG. Measurements and cog spacings are all done by eye - not even sure how I'd model the gears accurately

Hi there, this is my first try in the Speed Modeling Challenge. I hope you like my work! The "reflection" on the bottom is made with a watermark image in background.

Inspired by Dan Rathbun's question, I thought I'd bring some actual christmas-themed earrings I made in real life, into the digital realm. While they look rather simple, I put some extra fine detail into them, to make them competition-worthy. See wireframe image.
