Speed Modeling Challenge #42 - Circus

Speed Modeling Challenge #42 - Circus

Postby boofredlay » Fri Jul 08, 2011 3:16 pm

The theme for this challenge is Circus... anything to do with the circus.
The rules have changed so please read them. You have been notified.

The Official SketchUcation Community Forum Modeling Challenge Rules:

For this challenge you will have 30 minutes maximum for modeling and texturing. Your time spent is on the honor system, if you cheat you are only cheating yourself.

You can use an unlimited amount of preparation time for thinking, sketching, researching, collecting textures or scratching your head but NOT FOR MODELING. Again, this is on the honor system.

From now on only one (1) entry will be allowed so choose you subject wisely and make it count. If you post up more than one entry everyone will notice and you will be publicly ridiculed.

For your submission please provide (1) a textured image as well as (2) a hidden line or xray/hidden line image so we can learn from your modeling techniques. The textured image will be used for the voting element of the challenge.

Please also be considerate to members with slower connections and submit a maximum 1000 x 800 pixel image. Again, public ridicule will ensue if you violate this and your image will be removed.

Your image is to be SketchUp output only please. Yes you can use the Styles with SketchUp; no you cannot post a rendering using Twilight, Thea, Vray etc…

Finally, as enthusiastic as some of you are about rendering and sharing please do not post any renderings in the gallery or post models in the component forums as they could solicit votes.

The community will vote for their favorite entry once the competition has ended and the winner will choose the next theme.

Have Fun!

Competition closes on July 24th at 2pm GMT

+1 on the new rules. Nothing better than ridiculing members :thumb:

CJ probably has five or more entries made already!
At least he won't split his votes this way... and he now has a good chance of moving up from second the first place, because he can't now 'sabotage' himself

were thinking, make a tent marquees, or a cell ... but yesterday was struck by the music truck, from the museum of the circus.
I apologize for being silly and unfinished bottom pattern and harness, but can not jump over your head, all 30 minutes were spent, the result below.
(DAILY permanent sketches, practice in Corel and sketchup, to automatism, honestly - squeezed like a lemon ... specially sent my wife for a weekend to stay with relatives. I hope you like it, win or lose - Do not know, but I got a lot of fun and happy with the results for 30 minutes. The texturing was simply no time :)
Well imagine your attention - MUSICAL WAGON (of my circus)

Nice work Anthony, you just may have a winner this time.
This is real close to what I was thinking of modeling... will have to reconsider what I want to draw ;)

This is simply incredible. It would have taken me hours to model something not nearly as good as that. I believe I need more practice... :o

Yeap. I think I could spend the time just with the wheel, LOL
I'll have to plan this one

The circus theme at first sounded great but then I had trouble finding interesting ideas that I would be able to finish in 30mins. My model follows. For this model madmax52's technique in the previous challenge would be useful. Instead I placed the popcorn semi-manually.

oganocali - may be a circus and you have different, but here in Ukraine in the circus are not allowed to eat (and a bucket of popcorn and soda cause first associations with the movie theater) :D

Pop corn and sugar (candy?) floss are close to mandatory in circus here in Norway, and even sold inside the tent :)

I was thinking of doing something from "If I ran the Circus.." and I still might -- but then I remembered this from S.M.C #20 and how this RAN AWAY with the voting. . .So now I don't know. . .

If I ran the Circus

Well David I figure this should be right up your alley. You definitely should model something from the freak show.

oganocali using my technique you would have a better result. Voids are created that are not real. Simply place the popcorn on top of the cup and run the annimation. :sketchstatic:
