Speed Modelling Challenge #20 Dr. Seuss

Speed Modelling Challenge #20 Dr. Seuss

Postby remus » Thu Nov 26, 2009 9:28 pm

To celebrate this momentous occasion (and the competitions 1st birthday, roughly), we have a prize and 1 whole hour in which to earn it!

The prize is a copy of profile Builder kindly donated by Whaat (author of such other marvellous plugins as Subdivide and Smooth, BoolTools and Skindigo.)

The rules are the same as usual although they're going to be a little more strictly enforced for this round, so make sure your entry meets all the requirements.

The deadline is the 17th December.

Lastly, dont forget you get 1 hour in which to complete your model instead of the usual 30 mins.

Good luck and have fun.

I probably should have, but knowing me I'd still fiddle with it until I realised I have gone over the one hour.

Anyway I already own both SDS (as you can see) and Profile builder, so my entry is just for shits and giggles, and not an official entry.

I picked something less organic, since I don't have SDS...SU crashed about halfway thru, :x so I had to redo some of my work. The rubies I used are Fredo6 FreeScale, JPP, and Bezier Curves - mostly Bezier. Oh yeah, and Weld :D

Postby dale » Sun Dec 13, 2009 6:24 pm

Well I confess I'm really new to organic modeling, but I'm intrigued so I had another go. For me the time isn't in the proxy modeling, it's the time it takes my old G4 home computer to subdivide and smooth, and that's what makes the model. I took screenshots with the computer clock visible in the upper right corner just as a record.

This doesn't count as part of my submission but I couldn't resist. Ran sudivide and smooth one more time took until about 9:20 to run. I thought that since I started the model at 7:15 and had the first SDS at 8:00 I still had 15 min. lots of time right? An hour and 20 minutes later and a little tweaking and this is what I have.
