HEY GUYS,

Although I think it is great, the sand castle is NOT my creation. I didn't submit anything.

Peter

[EDIT: OK great. It's fixed now. I had to vote for one of Boo's, they cracked me up. But fine (fun) work everyone!]

Our non-coffee drinking homie David H. isn't in the list. That, or I had way too much cOfFeE!

Well I could argue that it was due to the anti Non-coffee drinking bias. . .but I'd be way out of the running anyway with all of these great models. as I said before..

I will accept Miss Congeniality ;)

Cocktail dress or no cocktail dress, you get miss world:

p.s. i'll ask about increasing the entries limit. Would be cool to avoid this happening again.

That reminds me, ive been trying to think of a more elegant way of doing the voting, although i havent come up with any cunning plans as of yet. If anyone else has a suggestion id be interested to hear it.

Hi Remus,

although i am very hapy to see that i got 1 vote (my first attempt on a speed modelling challenge), i would not really mind giving up my place for David. So if necessary, remove my one and insert David's. (it is fun participating and creating an alternative 'castle', but if that means that someone else cannot participate and i think it is clear that i will not win this one ;)

Sh***t guys - why didn't you tell? It can be set in the Admin panel (I have now raised it to 37 - that's another nice number - please, advise if you need more).

Postby remus » Fri Jan 23, 2009 2:51 pm

sigh...

went to add david in but it reset all the scores, luckily i recorded them, so for the record:
boo 1 - 10
boo 2 - 3
BTM 1 - 0
BTM 2 - 3
Bubba - 2
clickdraw - 1
Daniel Bouchard - 0
David_h 1 - 0
David_h 2 - 0
Earthmover - 12
Fens - 1
James - 2
Johnsenior - 1
Kwist - 2
Psylo - 3
Remus - 0
Vercors 1 - 0
Vercors 2 - 1
Wainui - 0

Forgive me if theres any mistakes, as i just quickly jotted them down on a sticky note.

Apart from that just keep voting away as usual and i'll tot it all up at the end.

Well this makes things, well, unfair if you think about it. While remus did record the votes before this changed it reset the option to vote. This means that anybody who voted before can vote yet again.

That said, I don't believe anybody here will cheat.

Just thoughts.

Another great contest...thanks Remus. It's getting much harder to vote. Would it be possible to let us have 3 votes each next time?

Cocktail dress ... Picture ...

... and all will be forgiven. Adding an inflatable rubber chicken to the mix will earn you bonus points, obviously.

I don't think it's bad that everyone can no0w vote again. Those interested, voted before and no-one would care to vote on David's enty now. So now everyone can reconsider and start voting again. Let's keep this as a "learning curve" now.

As for casting more votes (in later challenges) - it is also possible. It would allow you to "rate" more than one entry but globally these more votes would come out fairly balanced.

Re: Speed Modelling Challenge #6 voting

Postby Vercors » Sat Jan 24, 2009 3:06 pm

Hmm, but why always vote like that?
In an other forum when they were voting at a photo contest they votet like that:

Nr.1:
ensemble: 3/5 A very hard view on the daily routine in a city...
background: 1/2 a bit dark, but...
picture quality: 3/3 The colors are very good...

Points: 7/10

Nr.2:
ensemble: 3/5
background: 1/2
picture quality: 3/3

Points: 7/10

Or (if there will be too many entries):

Nr.1:
Nice picture, the background is too dark, but... [etc]
7/10

and the one who has the most points then, wins.

1. Because of the text, the modeller knows what to do better next time and what was good
2. no selfvotes.
3. noone votes for a picture, just because he likes the modeller
4. noone just votes for a random picture

Just an idea. ;)

Well Earthmover was clearly in the lead before and is taking the lead now so I say he has won. No need to re-run the poll IMO. Today being the original poll end date and all.

Great work again EM!!

The poll should end at the original time, and it is indeed looking like earthmover's going to get it, unless of course theirs a last minute surge...

Thanks everyone for the positive votes. I usually don't enter because I always think there is no chance I could win! It was a very fun contest....great entries by all. Solo's Chinese castle was my favorite (even though it didn't count), with Boo's twisty towers a close second.

Can't wait to see what the next challenge is!
