Remus, thanks for the inspiration, I was trying to figure out what I could model quick enough yet still get a quality result, I was considering a sextant then I saw your buoy above (hope you don't mind)

sweet little model, Solo. of course you didn't have to prove that you are a speed-modeller (considering the time between your form-and-function-furniture posts...) ;)

the render is absolutely stunning! you could seriously fool me with that. no difference to a real photograph in my eyes!

Raft - about 30 min. to model. Another 10 min. in Poser, and 29 minutes to render.

I put the timer on and when the bell struck 30 min I stopped modeling.
The canoe took 28 minutes exactly...last two minutes where for deciding how to finnish so I could render it half decent.

Rendered in Indigo ....no post processing. The Dock/deck and background HDR (image not .exr) are mine from other stuff. The planking texture on the canoe was made from a photo I took of a Brazillian Merbeau plank.

No guys, as I answered to Remus' PM, I was just kidding. ;)

Still (out of contest) here is a boat I made a good while ago (and I'm sure that it took more than 30 minutes)

what a nice little vessel.
when I look at the picture an image forms in my head of an early moarning on the Lake of Konstanz (am on vacation currently and, yes, I can't resist reading the forum... ;) ), low fog hovering over the water's plane surface. and in this complete silence, just before the sund starts to rise, there is your little boat, floating along. a bearded man in a slightly worn down coat is sitting in the back, several fishing rods beside him, sitting as still and silent as the world arround him.

well, that was a bit of a long explanation of what your boat reminds me of; but I think you get the picture.
is this vehicle your own creation entirely or based on an existing example?

Well, it was in my early stages with SU when I was trying to create different boat hulls (mainly old ones). Not a model of a particular vehicle (mainly just made it up) although I had some pictures in mind.

Nice and relaxing thoughts of yours, too!
