Demolition in Google Earth?

Demolition in Google Earth?

Postby Joseph EJC » Mon Nov 28, 2016 9:31 pm

Is there a way to "demolish" areas of G.E. (including terrain, trees, building, etc.) so that new construction (terrain, trees, buildings, etc.) can be imported from SketchUp and viewed within the surrounding context?

that will all have to happen within your own localized private model, GE no longer accepts SketchUp model anyway

Thanks, juju - I understand we can't upload to the web any more, but I can still import to GE on my own computer, so want to be able to "clear" the existing GE site so I can insert my proposed site/building/trees to show an Owner how their project works in GE's context. It's the clearing/demolition within GE that I'm hoping someone can help me with...?

You have tried exporting the model as either (or both) *.DAE and *.KMZ file types and importing that in GE?

Keep in mind that the information you see in GE is a moderated constant when loaded through the internet, you cannot just change that at will. You will need to download / model it locally, do the changes, and host it locally for viewing, probably not using GE but SU rather.

Something that might facilitate augmenting the kind of thing I explained above is a new extension on the horizon, PlaceMaker. I can't wait to see it released!

Have not tried the .DAE format - will give it a try.
You mention downloading to work on it locally: CAN one download/export GE content to SU and include their trees/buildings/etc.? I've only ever imported a "location" in SU and gotten the two layers of flat & contoured "images" of the ground-plane. (Which is great, but for this project I'm really wanting to be able to use ALL of the 3D GE context...)

Has anyone figured out how to import the 3D "photorealistic" data from Google Earth into a local Sketchup Model (like geo-locating with the 3d trees and buildings... not just the terrain)?
