I feel your pain there Baz, nothing worse that being stuck with poor coverage. Here on the river I get a brilliant connection. Data, calls, overseas mobile, skype etc all perfect, I even called someone on her mobile in germany while skyping with her and there was no lag between phone and screen. But go back to my house in the middle of sydney and I have to stand on top of the toilet and hold my mouth the right way just to make a call.

Looks pretty neat, Baz. My parents are caravaning around AU at the moment and knowing how much they paid for their new van, I know what I how I'd rather spend my cash....

Any ideas for an outdoor add-on to create a bit of a patio area?

Most definitely, need to get the interior finished first, then will plan a lightweight de-mountable deck, with probably a shade sail over.

That's wonderful! Hope you are enjoying your new place! Is it quiet around there?

I'm glad to see that like the rest of us from down here you have the extinguisher in the right place.
The chances of fire in the kitchen and bedroom are basically the same.

I am loving it, except when I'm not.

Which is mostly about my off grid setup. PV, Inverter/Chargers, Batteries, (48V, 4x200Ah batts. 6 x 270W PV).
Generators, RANT over.

And yes, it is very quiet. So quiet that I sometimes hear the airbrakes on the Mudland Hwy, bout 8 klms west away.

But then there's the maggies that hit the roof hard bout dawn to practice their carrier landings. They then sit around and squack about it.

And dont get me started about deer coughing at me.

Box me old dear, I have read this 4 times now and still she make no sense.

In the interests of good bookkeeping, I submit the following:

Number of Kitchen fires that I have either experienced or have trusted hearsay: 7 in last 30 years.
Number of Bedroom fires that I have either experienced or have trusted hearsay: 0 in last 30 years.

Damn fine gin and lime, this.

Finally got my deck built and I love it, makes such a difference.
All modular and can be dismantled to man size pieces for transportation.
Now to see if the canopy is strong enough to take the winds around here.

No, thank the gods. In fact nearly feeling guilty. We've had almost 50mm of rain since last week. We needed it. Tho' not as badly as needed up North. How is your situation in Qld?

There hasn't been a fire thru here for 60 years, so when it inevitably happens, it's going to be a doozy. We are well prepared, with a plan A and a plan B. (Plan B is run away).

Cheers.

PS: Just watched the news, had no idea the fires were that bad in Queensland. Hope you and yours are ok.

Thanks mate. I'm in North Queensland and there are fires all around here... an eerie day today.
Not as bad as the south east of QLD though; those poor buggers have may more established flora that is really taking a hit right now.

Just terrible what mother nature serves up when she's pissed.

Digs are coming along Baz, nice work. Looks like you have everything optimized in the space department :thumb: I am sure you will check 3 times for underpass headroom ;):). I know it does not help you but perhaps others. I am with Vodaphone so coverage in the sticks may not be good, but I have no landline so use pocket wifi. I get 90 Gigs for $54 a month, and pay 30 for unlimited use on my phone which also has 4 gigs included so i get 94 gigs with unlimited calls for $94 a month.

Thanks Liam, funny you should say check 3 times.
I did, and still went empirical anyway.
IE: I set the canopy frame up on temp posts and walked under it a few times.
SU gave me a good benchmark, (about 20 mm low.)
