Rounding a corner
-
Is there any way to round a corner with a specific radius at the vertex of two lines? Thanks, Scotty

i like using fillet.rb
http://video.suplugins.com/download/fillet.rb
select the two lines then type the radius in the VCB...
you can also use it for all edges of a square etc... the only restriction is that it has to be only two lines intersecting..[edit] more info (and more scripts) here:

This method works for any two edges that meet at a vertex [with any angle between them].
Let's say the required radius is 1 unit.
Use the tape-measure tool to make parallel construction guide lines 1 unit off each of the edges.
Where a c'line intersects the other edge it makes the tangent point for the arc forming a filleted corner that is 1 unit radius.
Use the arc tool to draw an arc between these two intersections - pick the two points; move the cursor to change the arc's radius.
The arc's colour will change to magenta when it's tangential to the edges, now click to make it.
If you click and it's not made tangential you can always type 1 immediately to make it the right radius.
You can also change the number of segments - e.g. type 24s to make the arc with 24 pieces around it...There are also 'fillet' ruby script plugins to - e.g. K_tools.rb, fillet.rb...

Thank You for your responses. The tape measure tool suggestion worked for me. I also tried the fillet ruby but couldn't use it because it didn't show up as a selection in my Plugin menu. I downloaded it and put it in my plugin folder and restarted Sketchup but it was not listed. This is the case with other rubies that are in my plugins folder. There are 7 plugins in my folder but the only ones that show up in the menu are Cost>, FilletTool, Model On Ocean Floor, and Copy Along Path>. My path is - Program Files - Google - Google Sketchup 7 - Plugins. Is this correct? - Scotty
