Hi,
I've been working on a few files lately, where the PDF size ends up above the email size limit. As a workaround, I've been sending clients a dropbox link... but some have ended up confused as to how to access the files.
Therefore I was wondering what options people use within Layout to end up with something at a decent quality, but with a low file size.
As I see it, I have the following ways to change quality:
1. Setting the drawings to Vector, Hybrid or Raster.
2. Changing the "Rendering Quality" in the Document setup (between Low, Medium and High).
3. Changing the "Image Resolution" under options when I export a PDF (between Low, Medium and High).
4. Changing the JPEG compression slider under options when I export a PDF (slider between Smaller File > Higher Quality).
Which options remove the most bulk from the file without affecting the image quality too much?
I'm currently using 1. Hybrid, 2. High, 3. High, 4. Highest Quality.
File Sizes...

Re: File Sizes...I'd be interested in learning more about this too. However, while I have a Mac, I don't know about all the settings you are describing or where they are. I print pdf from L.O. at highest quality and mostly use hybrid rendering. Sometimes I think I don't need the highest quality setting and some experimentation is in order. I think you'll find that the pdf experience on Mac is unique and Windows people may not be able to help us. I find that exporting from Preview with Filter "create generic PDFx-3 Document" can reduce the file size some with no noticeable change in appearance. The filter"reduce file size" is no good.

Re: File Sizes...Thanks for the tip about using "Preview"!
2. Rendering quality is found under "File" > "Document Setup..." > "Paper". 3 and 4 are found under "File" > "Export..." > "Options..." If I get no replies, I might spend a day doing some different exports and try to compare them all - both on screen and on paper. It's amazing how many different options there are for changing the quality! Re: File Sizes...I know about rendering. I think I was just referring to the options on exporting Pdf as I actually do not use that method, and haven't looked at it for a long time. I use print to pdf all the time. Obviously that's something I should consider if I run into problems. I use print because I need consistent file naming and output to use in another program.

Re: File Sizes...I completely forgot about "Print to PDF"!
It'll be interesting to see how that effects file size!
