Jerky Sketchup
-
Hi guys
So i've lurked about in here looking for a solution to this but seem to be at a loss.
Running OSX 10.4.11 with SU 6.4.245 on a 2.4 iMac with 4gig ram; runs terribly. Jerky motion for reletively simple models, throw some textures in and its essentially unusable . Panning generally results in the beachball almost every time for around 6-8 seconds. The lag thereafter is terrible.
Tested on Windows, works beautifully. Have attempted to turn off the openGL, airport and a variety of other workarounds people have posted to no avail.
Is there something I'm missing here? Love this program but struggling to contain my frustration lol.
Any and all help greatly appreciated

Have you looked into the hardware acceleration?
I'm guessing that you purge your models

Hi there, cheers for the reply
Yep, looked into that, seems to make no difference. Im an architect student and quite used to modelling in 3D (max etc), the models are concise and purged.
Still having this issue, quite annoying

If your Imac is one with an Intel integrated display chip, jerkiness is to be expected. Intel graphics adapters are not OpenGL-compliant and are mostly meant for 2D office work.

Hi Daz, welcome to the forum... Good to see another Aussie around here!!!
Why not post the skp file here and we'll have a look for you. As Anssi and tobobo said, playing with system preferences and see what happens....
Cheers, -
Hi guys
Anssi, nope, shes an ATI chipset, not integrated intel and thus should run like a charm. Mid 2007 model, first of the Aluminium finish, 20".
Utiler. Cheers for the welcome, great forum here, I will be sure to stick around!! Where abouts in Oz (Brisbane here)
Due to this issue I'm actually building the model in 4 stages, its a 30x30x20 (W/L/H) theatre concept for my Architecture degree, hoping to come to some resolution of this issue before committing the pieces together and just dealing with the pain. I will upload the theatre spatial layout this evening and see if yuo have any pointers.
Cheers all
