Lock toolbars

Got an idea to improve SketchUp?

This is one of three reasons I'm still using SU8... I've got no way to lock my toolbars in position or reset them if they get messed with... very important to me because I need to keep my scenes the same across many jobs and open up a job later and know it will have the same export size as it did when I created it (I use the toolbars to create an 8 1/2 x 11 jpeg export ratio). The other reason is because SU14 gives me no control over the shape of the toolbar once it is in the toolbar dock... always a vertical stack of tools if it is on the left or right... making the export ratio I'm using very hard to achieve, and I also prefer horizontal toolbars. Third reason is the round corner plugin doesn't work.

I agree.
Sketchup 8 is still more comfortable than 2014 with regard to customizing shapes of toolbars and locking them in place. I find that in 2014 when you try to move a toolbar it is way too sensitive and things start flying around... And really, not much new in 2014 to justify the switchover.

BUT, I seriously think you can forget about all that trouble by installing thom thom's super duper  vray tools plugin . I imagine you don't even need vray for it to work. You can see, and export any size picture you want without the need to adjust toolbars or screens.

Good Luck

Interesting enough, I had the scattering of toolbars in 2013 recently. The file I was working on froze so I had to force close it. Open it up again and all the toolbars are unlocked from their positions. Seems to happen randomly but only when it freezes.

Anyone else getting this in 2013?

I can't believe that they STILL have not included the option to lock the toolbars - even in the very latest v2015 32 or 64 bit versions. They brag about all the "new features" but neglect to include the simplest and probably most convenient *feature* that ANY app can have - the ability to lock those damn toolbars!! WTF!?

How is it even possible for any software company to be this clueless...

Karl, are you still using SketchUp 8 like your profile indicates?

Funny. I've been using SketchUp for a little over 14 years. I've never once wished for an option to lock toolbars. It just isn't a problem for me. They always stay where I put them

i am old to Autocad & Photoshop but new to SU. Learning SU is easier but using it much tough and frustrating. Many of its feature have complete dependency on Plug ins and many yet to introduce. One of them is
1) Unlocked Toolbar- Here you cant create User Interface profile too.

and another is
2) Unable to create your own Hotkeys. Unlike AutoCad where you can create your own Hotkeys as per your use and convenience like i do have Hot Keys, R for rectangle, RR for rotate, RRR for render but here in SU you can use only one letter not more than that thus requires two fingers or two hands to use ALt or CTRL with letter. in AutoCAd i have clean screen but in SU screen is full of toolbars
