[Plugin] MatrixProximity Update v1.9 20110708MatrixProximity Update
GreyHead has pointed out a glitch in the MatrixProximity 'swapping similar components' method. This fixes the problem with it finding the right directory - caused by changes to the way Ruby 'now' returns the FindFile path with/without a / at the end of a directory... [actually it changed ages ago, but I never caught it...] This version and some further improvements and fixes... AND the missing menu issue fixed! TIG

Re: [Plugin] MatrixProximity Update v1.7No pdf attached to the download...
I have it from a previous download.
Re: [Plugin] MatrixProximity Update v1.7sorry TIG
I really don't understand how to use your plugin.... I have the same statue in 3 LOD name is : statue-001+ statue-001~ statue-001- run the plugin see the boxes nothing happens on screen ! Re: [Plugin] MatrixProximity Update v1.7Are those +/~/- components loaded into the SKP, or at least available in the '../Proximity Components' folder that you need to add inside the '../Components' folder?
The script is pretty old and also quite ropey! I can fix it if you really want!! What is it you want to do exactly ?? TIG
Re: [Plugin] MatrixProximity Update v1.7Sorry TIG I missed that part : create a proximity folder....
I'll try that now I'am trying to draw a perspective 300 m long with a statue evry 10 m the one in the far don't need high res --- I want to create scenes and not re-load manually every component ... Re: [Plugin] MatrixProximity Update v1.7You need to set a range in the dialog so that some statues fall outside the limit and are thereby made the '-' type. I assume that the three types are made with the same origin and overall dimensions BUT the farther ones are less complex forms ?
Do you want to PM me the three types and I'll see what's what... ![]() TIG
Re: [Plugin] MatrixProximity Update v1.7@Bertier
You can use the Random Replacement of a Composant by Sdmitch ![]() Just take one composant as source for avoid the random if neeeding ![]() And despite of that in case of Big Size component (polys) use the Ghost component by fredo 6 ![]()
Re: [Plugin] MatrixProximity Update v1.8 20110708Here's v1.8 viewtopic.php?p=46802#p46802
I've made some additional fixes to the code to bring it up to date... TIG
Re: [Plugin] MatrixProximity Update v1.8 20110708Where can I find the original .zip file for this? I've never used this before so I think I'm lacking a few things to make it work. I tried to just drop in the .rb file and create the subfolder in my components folder, but I can't get it to show up in the plugins list. Perhaps it would be helpful to repackage it with everything needed to make it work.
Thanks TIG, this looks useful. 3D Artist at Clearstory 3D Imaging

Re: [Plugin] MatrixProximity Update v1.9 20110708Here's an updated version that fixes the 'missing menu issue'!
![]() Here's the guide All you need for 'Proximity' to run is a folder called 'Proximity Components' in the main 'Components' folder, useful IF you haven't already loaded a 'set' of three 'proximity components' [ending in +/~/-] into your model... TIG
Re: [Plugin] MatrixProximity Update v1.9 20110708this is GREAT !
it's finally working !!! here are some pics before / after : edges go from : 1,492,371 --> 245,003 !!! this is fantastic ! TIG YOU ROCK !!!! Re: [Plugin] MatrixProximity Update v1.9 20110708'Proximity' was a tool that didn't develop much after I had the idea.
It relies on you using it manually at each change of view with you having made two or three components with more/less detail for near/mid/far way from the camera locations [same origin etc but less geometry]. Each with +/~/- on the end of their name or thier SKP if external components used in the 'Proximity Components' folder inside Components folder, IF the components are not already loaded into the current SKP... I'd be interested in your feedback/ideas... TIG
Re: [Plugin] MatrixProximity Update v1.9 20110708Idea: Same but not from the camera but from a point x,y,z
Re: [Plugin] MatrixProximity Update v1.9 20110708Hi TIG, thank you again for this, I believe it will be really helpfull into the projetc I am currently working on, and I imagine to other who handle large files with repeated components.
- the : + / - extension make real sense as well as : ~, but for some reason on a French keyboard : ~ is not an easy "key" - when saving "statue-001+.skp" the "+" sign transforms in "statue-001_.skp", I then have to rename the file... - would it be possible to have script that auto-saves a component into -001+ / -001~ / -001- ? maybe combined with Polyreduce... a one-stop plugin from a component file --> +/~/- Re: [Plugin] MatrixProximity Update v1.9 20110708
if so : just copy past fromt the text above ![]()
Re: [Plugin] MatrixProximity Update v1.9 20110708salut Pilou sur mon clavier c'est : "Alt Gr + é" mais il faut le faire "é" fois et effacer une instance...
comment c'est sur le tien ? Last edited by Bertier on Sun Jul 10, 2011 6:55 am, edited 1 time in total.
Re: [Plugin] MatrixProximity Update v1.9 20110708On an UK English keyboard a tilde ['~'] is just a shifted '#' sign? code= U007E
On a FR keyboard isn't it the key to the left of the top line '1' key +shift ?? or you should use the French keyboard shortcut = AltGr+é then a <space> [<then backspace> to remove the space!]- if there's no space it tries to put the tilde over the last typed character if it's an 'a' or 'e' etc ? On a FR Canadian keyboard I think it's Ctrl+Alt+; for the ~ ?? TIG
Re: [Plugin] MatrixProximity Update v1.9 20110708Same as TIG describe: Alt Graphic + é twice then Backspace
![]() Appuyer 2 fois sur é Alt Graphic étant appuyé : on obient curieusement 2 tildes (~~) puis Backspace pour en effacer un ![]()
