[Plugin] ExtrudelineTool Update

Postby Didier Bur » Wed Nov 21, 2007 3:40 am

Hi,
Here is an update of my extrudelinetool:
- now supports numeric entries in the VCB
- annoying beep supressed
- some graphic enhancements.
Enjoy,

Fantastic, thanks a lot.
May be, to make it perfect, you could add:
1.non-orthogonal tracking, aka SU magenta line
2.forced direction (SHIFT catch)
3."from point" snapping- before final 2 clicks one could move cursor along desired
direction->digital input via vcb->and finally last 2 clicks.
But once again, I'm already happy with
current version.

Hi Didier.

I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but I have been unable to access your site for the last couple of days.

I am using safari and I keep getting a warning that the server is not responding.

Any idea what is up? Anyone else having this problem?
Cheers, Chuck

weird, but thanks for the confirmation that it's not my red-headed stepchild Mac causing the issue.

Didier,
thank you for this great script!

I'm wondering ... Can you make it work like the follow-me tool so that you can pick the path before selecting the lines to extrude and they would follow that path?

like this image:

It would be great for creating low-poly roof flashing around a complex roof, or for low-poly sunshades with all those blades, so you don't have to make them with thickness, etc.

here's a conversation for this a few months back

just a thought: It would be great to implement the ExtrudelineTool completely into SketchUp by making the push/pull tool work on selected lines. so the push/pull tool works as normal, but if some lines are selected beforehand, it works on these lines like your ExtrudelineTool.

(however, I asume that ruby doesn't give you acces to the native SketchUp tools, right? therefore this idea should be in the wish list section :D )

Thanks for Updates, Sir!
But I have an idea, hope your scripts have one more option.
The follow me tool twisted the face along the 3d path, so can you fix it by make the line always parabel to a selected face? or more simple, the line always parabel to OXY or OXZ or OYZ of WorldXYZ.
Thanks again and sorry about my terible English.

is this most excellent tool still being developed?

i'd like to see the path follow option implemented as well :bounce:

Any chance of having it select the new set of edges? Not the ones making up the extrusion, but the ones parallel to the original ones?

Well, I must be dense today, where is the newly package script?

Again thanks Didier for all your scripts.
