Hi all, Here is an update of my former script "line2cyl.rb". Intended to create renderable wire frame models. Some bug fixes and enhancements: - Make group of all tubes or not, - Each tube is a group or not, - Paint tubes with a material, - Quick doc included. Have fun, 09.12.08: french version available Please get the latest version from the PluginStore Download

Thanks a lot for this great new plugin.
One thing though, the PDF says that the tool can be selected in the Tools menu. That wasn't the case for me. It was in the Plugins menu.
EDIT: I was wrong. I was using the Lines2Cylinders ruby from the Plugins. I cannot find the Line2Tube ruby at all.

Didier, I am getting the same result as johnsenior1973. I have placed the ruby in the Plugins folder but does not show up in the Tools menu. Lines2_2.jpg Lines2_1.jpg

Is that where it shows up for you because it is not there for me? Lines2_3.jpg Furthermore the pdf file Didier attached said it would be located under Tools, not Plugins. Edit: Here is part of the pdf just in case you did not read it. Lines2_4.jpg And yes... I restarted SU.

It was listed just fine for me on Vista 64bit in the tools menu. Great plugin! Here's a helix, triple helix, double helix, something that isn't a helix, but sort of close, then another 10x helix or something. I'm sure most of those names are wrong, so just look at the picture Chris

Thanks didier! It works great! I've already used... One single possible request... would be possible to modify so we could extrude along square shapes as well? So in Solo's image above for example, i could quickly build beans, columns.. etc etc.. all square? Thanks again! PS: i've just donwloaded your all in one file... i'm feeling it'll take me ages to check them all...

Very nice Didier, thanks Additionally may be you could: 1/ add a rotation parameter (when precision is 4 one would get square section (rotation 45)) 2/now I weld lines to get continuous result. Any chance to get it automatically? 3/conjunctions?

Hi all, Sorry for the inconvenience of the "not showing plugin" problem. My fault. You must delete old "line2cyl.rb" of your plugins folder OR I must correct the name of the plugin in the code (I forgot to change it). If line2cyl is loaded first, SU doesn't create another menu item in the tools menu for the new version. would be possible to modify so we could extrude along square shapes as well?
Use a precision of 4 and you'll get square section prisms.(RTFM) please restore this function in "projection_extension.rb
Does this make sense ? This function has nothing to do with projection IMHO... I was wondering if there is way to clean up intersection...
The script can't do it (I mean, quite difficult to code). A workaround is to draw as much curves as you can, and select "Yes" in the "follow-me on curves" option. But it cannot clean intersections on T or Y or X branching edges. Maybe next version will do it ?

Thanks Didier.
Could this be adapted to use a semi-circle with thickness? I am thinking of use for ridge tiles on a roof.

I did not have a chance to look at this until now on my work machine. I had line2cyl.rb here as well. I installed Lines to tubes and got the same results... not showing up. So I then tried as you suggested Pilou, deleting line2cyl.rb and now it is showing up. Thanks.

i think there should also be an option to make not round tubes but square hexagonal triangular ones.
