[Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4e - 02 Jun 19Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18I'm sure Joint Push Pull v4.4b has generated multiple groups at once for me. I just can't recall what choice of options do this. Anyone know? Think I chose the face by face option ... but can't seem to replicate the multiple group results.
OK. Just realized that multiple groups are generated when the faces I'm push/pulling are not connected. Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18It would be great if you add the thickness to the surface and add the option to delete the surface after grouping
Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18
The native PushPull does not have this option. Although this could be possible, I think there are enough options in JPP. It is easy to remove the face after push-pull.
Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 181.copy surface to buffer
2.execute JPP 3. paste in place 4. delete Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18It would have been nice if there was an option of giving the thickness similar to the Autocad Exturude command! .. Yes, it is a waste of time but we can easily remove the remaining surfaces.
![]() "Group PushPull 2DFaces" will not need this plugin! .. thanks Fredo6 Last edited by designerbursa on Sun Feb 03, 2019 12:28 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18I don't understand. The grouping in Group PushPull 2D Faces is individual by face, which is not supported by JPP.
So this is two different features.
Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18Dear Fredo,
Hello, I kindly reach you to mention a problem in the Joint Push Pull plugin. When I model organic shape or complex surface(Almost curve form or tensile structure) Pushing of the surface is not moving well and also I have tried to copy of surface and then use Curviloft to close it but it also doesn't work properly. What should I do exactly in this Situation? Thanks in advance. Sincerely Hamidreza Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18Could you post the model with the Tensile surface, so that I can try to investigate the problem with JPP.
Also, can you use the Extrude tool in JPP (X marked) instead. Fredo
Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18Dear Fredo,
Thanks a lot. It works when I use the Extrude tool in JPP (X marked). Thanks in advance. Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18Hi Fredo, i noticed that JPP will treat group copies as instances - i think it would be great to bypass this and have it treat groups as separate. perhaps something for the next update cycle...
Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18
Definitely. This happens for freshly copied groups, that behave as components until you edit them. I need to correct this as I did in FredoCorner. Just some work! Fredo
Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18Hi, first of all I really like this plugin and I have been using it for some time now. Somehow the face selection via surface stopped working for me. The plugin only selects by face if I set it to surface.
Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18
Weird... May be you could - open the Ruby console before launching JPP to check if there are errors - post your model, or show a short video of the problem Fredo
Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18I opened the Ruby console and then started the plugin, but there was no text in the console, so I think there's no problem there.
I don't think that there's a problem with my model. I tried it on different models and it wasn't working either. Maybe there is a problem with LibFredo? I updated it last week and I haven't noticed any problem before. I tried reinstalling LibFredo and JPP, but it didn't fix anything. Here is how it looks in SketchUp, no error message, just not working as intended: Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18In Sketchup, surface is defined by a set of faces whose common edges are soft (so not smooth).
Can you check in your model. Also, what happens when you turn off "Hidden Geometry" ?
Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18Round Push Pull with minimum number of rounding segments = 1, that would be nice
![]() Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18Fredo, would it be possible to add 'afterward selection department' to JPP?
Say 3 check boxes that rule which category will stay selected: initial faces, offset faces, or connecting faces. Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18
I am not sure I understand. The selection scope option is kept across JPP sessions and even Sketchup sessions.
Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18Say you have state 0, then run JPP and immediately after execution (on exit) you'd have (wishful thinking) 3 states.
The goal is ability to group selection and assign diffrent material or make some geniuos manipulations (independently). Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18OK. I get what you want to get.
Doable indeed, but this is another option in a GUI which some consider already 'bloated'!! Currently, JPP keeps the selection on the faces which have been selected.
Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18
OK. Could you please change this setting it to the offset ones? It would solve all my request without UI bloating. You see, I can Cnrl+C initial faces before JPP execution, and then just paste original faces after JPP is done. This simple hack restores original selection. Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18
The native SketchUp Push Pull does the following - if and only if a face is pre-selected before launching the PP tool... - ...its offset fasce is hard-selected when you finished the push pull. This means that if you wish to push-pull another face right after within the same Push-Pull session, you have to press Escape to deselect. Is this behavior you want to reproduce with JPP?
Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4b - 21 Dec 18This is the way I imagine:
1. Preselect 2. Run JPP 3. Hit Enter to exit 4. Offset faces stay selected It's very similar to the principle described in Pilou gifs here: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=1523&start=30 but in our case we deal with faces, not lines P.S. By 'offset faces' I mean case #1 (see my picture above ^^^) Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4c - 20 Feb 19@rv1974
Can you have a look at JPP v4.4c. It selects the offset faces of preselected faces (if any) at exit. This assumes indeed that you perform only one Push Pull operation and then exit. Fredo
Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4c - 20 Feb 19Tested right now. Works perfectly, many many thanks! I'll post tomorrow some micro explanation how distribute materials in conjunction with JPP.
Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4c - 20 Feb 19
Or take v4.4d... I made it work even if you perform several push pull operations within the same JPP session.
Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4d - 20 Feb 19NEW RELEASE: JointPushPull Interactive v4.4d - 20 Feb 19
JointPushPull Interactive 4.4d select the offset faces of pre-selected faces at exit. See post just above. JointPushPull 4.4b requires LibFredo6 8.7m or above ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- See plugin home page of JointPushPull for Download of JointPushPull. Main Post of the JointPushPull thread on this forum Fredo
Re: [Plugin] JointPushPull Interactive - v4.4d - 20 Feb 19Fredo, when FollowPushPull is used on chamfer face, is there way to get somehow an exact 'chamfer 0' state?
