Anybody going to basecamp this year, I could not see another thread, delete this if it's a duplicate. I am thinking of coming over from Sweden for the week, anybody else making the trip? I had a great time when I went in 2010, it was my first time in America! It wold be good to see some familiar faces again! -- 3D Basecamp is coming to Palm Springs, California from September 24-28, 2018! Here is the website with the details: https://blog.sketchup.com/article/save- ... 018-coming

Maybe if we can get a bunch of riders together we can get a group discount. The rental dealer is actually in the hotel complex. My parents toured Europe 2up on a vespa back in 1953 complete with spare tyre and tin of engine oil. I still love to look through their tattered and torn b/w yellow stained loose photos in a box. If you only get a vestpa you'll be winning.

I don't have A1 unfortunately, I am limited to sub par engine size and doubt I could rent in US. But I think the flight will take all my pennies minus beer money!

The US doesn't have the same license regulations. You'd probably be able to rent the biggest bike you could afford. But, I know what you mean, it's a big expense for those that don't live in the US just to get there, let alone the accommodation, tickets and incidentals. I'm only going to make it from Australia as an unexpected windfall made it possible.

Yes indeed, the two Harly's i've rented in the past are both from countries with lax rules! But I don't even have a driving license in the UK, if I see you however more than happy to take it round the car park

This will be the first time I will miss a basecamp. Too expensive for me, and frankly the last one at Steamboat Springs just lacked something, it has become too big, and it's now all about selling crap, vendors everywhere.

Hey, Pete - I tried to click on your My site link and got this message: "This function is disabled. If you got here from a link on the site, please contact the site administrator".
On the topic of the thread: It might be a VERY interesting Basecamp given the large a amount of discussion on the SketchUp Forum about the web version SketchUp Free.

I am still on the fence about this Basecamp. Funding and timing are issues. I have a kid going to college in the fall.
Like Pete I got less out of the last one than previous. 2010 was the best in my opinion.

I'm only 255 miles from Palm Springs (~5 hours by car) so I don't have any excuse to not go (Unless Rich O'Brien isn't coming). ~$1200 for the motel for the week and $500 for the 3-day sessions isn't too bad considering it will be our vacation for the year (and the Marriott Desert Springs Resort is an awesome place to stay). I'm sure my wife will have plenty of things to enjoy while I'm "Camping". Sorry to see that Solo will be absent

I'll be going for both Boot Camp and Basecamp. Looking forward to meeting some folks I've only dreamed of meeting like Box and Cotty.

Can I ask that some who is going suggests a price reduction for 2018 and beyond. If they are going to remove Make it is reasonable to reduce the price and get more bums on seats. I totally understand the reasons for deleting Make from the lineup. Fixing some of the well known older problems would be nice too but that is unlikely. I hope those who go have a great time too.

Ha you mean Enigma? If anybody is renting a car or what not from LA>Palm Springs let me know, I will gladly pay for petrol and what not, saves me a 7 hour bus ride.

I've been only able to attend 2. . .05 back when it was just @Last. Back in those days, we were all on pins and needles waiting for the release of what would soon become LayOut. Colorado_013.jpg I aslo went 2010. They were both great. But I am probably so far out of the loop on all things SU i'd probably be left in the dust. I'd love to see some info on the agenda and such and see if I can get the $$ to go. Good times
If I make it look easy. . .then it probably is.

I am all booked in now, got offered a new job on Friday so no longer running around after freelance, nice flight booking to celebrate!
If anybody wants to car share from LA > Palm Springs let me know. I found this Tesla company who do ahead shuttle bookings for $70 if not.

That makes me feel a bit better about missing the last few, Eric! I have some great memories of the 2010 BC.... Sore head being one of them.

How about the Oz Basecamp, Box? Surely you'll be able to attend that one in your own backyard? I've certainly started putting pennies away for it.
