The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-FiRe: The Art of sketchup - part 2: Sci-FiHi guys,
It's nice to be back. I apologize for the lack of updates the past half year. Things have been quite hectic. My grandfather passed away a few months ago. I spent a few days in Los Angeles with my family to attend the funeral. Back to San Francisco, I was really busy finishing the game Rift that was shipped on March. You can check out the website here if you're into MMO: http://www.riftgame.com/en/. So the NDA was lifted and I now can share some of my concepts/Sketchup models that I did the past 3.5 years. You can see them in the Fantasy thread: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=27028 I also worked on some sci-fi stuff for Trion's Defiance MMO: http://www.defiance.com/en/. However, since the game is not out yet, I cannot show you my Sketchup models due to NDA. But here are some personal projects. As usual, modeling was done in Sketchup; texturing inside Sketchup and done in Photoshop; rendering with VRay for Sketchup; postworks in Photoshop. Thanks for viewing and have a terrific day, _KN >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> My interview with Sketchupartists.org: http://www.sketchupartists.org/spotlight/artists/sketchup-art-in-the-online-game-industry/ Sketchup for Fantasy Art: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=27028&start=75 Last edited by ken28875 on Mon Jun 27, 2011 9:10 am, edited 1 time in total.

Re: The Art of sketchup - part 2: Sci-FiHi there,
I just dug out a few 3d concepts I did for a sci-fi game a few years ago. I cannot name the name of the game yet. These are some kind of alien devices. Modeled in Sketchup and rendered with Vray. I will post some more soon. Unfortunately, I cannot post anything yet. Not having job is not so fun as I still have to pay bills and support my family. On the other hand, I can do what I want. I finally have some free time to work on personal projects different from what I would do for work. I did a bunch of vehicles (sci-fi and realistic contemporary/ Tanks, boats, airplanes, etc.). Keep watching for this thread as I will add some of more my recent concepts. I hope you had a good weekend. Here are some older renders I did using one of the droids I posted in this thread a while ago. Sketchup + Lumion3D + Photoshop. Re: The Art of sketchup - part 2: Sci-FiWell that doesn't look like anything I've seen done in Lumion as yet! It's so pretty for scene of destruction! Thanks for posting Ken. I think we may be benefiting to see works from your free time. I hope you get hooked up soon though, if not already.

Re: The Art of sketchup - part 2: Sci-Fi
>> Hi Peter, Thanks for you kind words. Yeah, it's nice to have free time to work on personal stuff. However, I still need to pay the bills and support the family. I had a couple of interviews with some game companies, but they decided to pursue other candidates. A recruiter, friend of mine who worked in the same company some years ago, just emailed me today. He actually has a job opening that he want to talk to me about. We'll see how things go.
