Filling a Space with Components. Here's one for the gurus. . .
Im drawing a Lottery ball pin and want to fill it with ping pong balls, but I am not sure how to fill the bin with the balls in a random like way. I am not good with Compo Spray. But that is the first thing I thought of to use, and I am just not good with it. It kept asking me if I wanted to go ahead and add 8000 copies. . .. uh. . .NO. I need about 50 or so inside the bin. as you can see I am trying to find an easy way to give this a random look. Right now I just have them all lined up. dumb. See image below. Any ideas? thx, David Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums. If I make it look easy. . .rest assured--it probably is.
Re: Filling a Space with Components.I'm not really up on Sketchy Physics but I wonder if it might be the way to go. Could you put a temporary opening on the top of the basket and set the balls up to drop into it when you say, "Go?"
Inspecting mirrors is a job I could easily see myself doing.
Re: Filling a Space with Components. That would be terrific except for one little hiccup. I havent even looked at SuPhy in about 4 years. I wouldnt know how to begin.
thanks for the thought tho. D If I make it look easy. . .rest assured--it probably is.
Re: Filling a Space with Components.Sorry I can't tell you where to begin either. You might pose your question on the Sketchy Physics forum, though. One of those rocket scientists will probably have the answer for you.

Re: Filling a Space with Components.good point, and therefore I shall do just that.
Thx D ps if anyone else has any thoughts on this. . please chime in D If I make it look easy. . .rest assured--it probably is.
Re: Filling a Space with Components.Hey Hey! Thanks Rich. I'll check this out.

Re: Filling a Space with Components. Not exactly . . .but thanks for the effort / response.
I think my image above was misleading. What I need is to show this bin (Image A) filled with ping pong balls like image B. I am just not sure how to make this happen in a fairly natural random way. . . Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums. Re: Filling a Space with Components.Did Sketchy Physics not work for this?

Re: Filling a Space with Components.A few years back I did something similar with spray cans dropping out of a box.
It works fine if you use the earlier link as a base. I'd try again except I don't have it installed.
Re: Filling a Space with Components. You can use that
Take any number of Spheres you want (groups or components) at any place above the SkateRamp Launch Sketchyphysics Make a Pause at any time you want Open the Outliner Select Spheres inside the Oultliner else the animation go to the start!!! Copy / Past balls in your project During the animation you can take and move any ball ! If you want another curvated form blocks : just make 2 separated blocks A & B! (groups or components) StaticMesh / Convexhull Have fun PS And if you want more sophisticated balls with Number : use the very tricky Relplace random Component by Sdmitch Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums.

Re: Filling a Space with Components.I guess I didn't understand that the attached model was a SUPhys model. I guess I am going to have to learn it in order to do what I need to do.
Thanks for the help. D If I make it look easy. . .rest assured--it probably is.
Re: Filling a Space with Components.I have replaced the file on the previous post
Groups are now components so you can remplace them at the end by anything you want Yes you must install SketchyPhysics else nothing will arrive Even you don't know Sketchyphysics : You have no more to make Just Press Start and Pause and re read the post above Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums.

Re: Filling a Space with Components.so I downloaded the latest and greatest of SP3 and on the start up I get this. . .
and when I press the Play button I get this. . . any thoughts? Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums. If I make it look easy. . .rest assured--it probably is.
Re: Filling a Space with Components.Ah damned
I am affraid to say that I don't know why you have this sort of thing Try to install a previous versions of Su That I shown was done with a recent version of Sketchyphysics on an old SU 7 version Another thing : seems Sketchyphics makes some interference with some other plugs so disable it when you don't use! I just change the name of its extension ".rb" as ".rbo" in the plugin folder
Re: Filling a Space with Components.I was afraid of that. I've only got 1400 Plugins that could be the problem. Should be no problem going through all of them.

Re: Filling a Space with Components.Save somewhere the folder Plugins
Create a new folder Plugins Install Sketchyphysics run it but from you error messages I doubt that will be sufficient
Re: Filling a Space with Components.it usually never is--
when it comes to me, but I will give it a try. Thx, d If I make it look easy. . .rest assured--it probably is.
Re: Filling a Space with Components.I'd give component spray a whirl. It is fast and polite. Try it with a simple 3d tick of the same cross dims as your balls, then redefine the component as you wish if it works out.
