That's what I also meant above. This is a plugin but we have never been able to get it to work. It should have been removed as this is now extremely confusing.
Had a problem when filling out your survey. Several questions give you the option of filling in "other", but when you try to submit the survey it tells you that "this question requires an answer". Isn't the purpose of filling in the "other" box because none of the supplied choices fit your answer?

Can you imagine how TIG's inbox would look like?
oh. it wouldnt go to his inbox (where he'd have to open each mention etc individually) more of a notification center type thing.. a single scrollable panel with all mentions, quotes, and whatnot.
maybe too soon to implement I guess but I definitively think this stuff will be happening in the future. (well, it already is.. ie- on my phones's notification center, I can see any new emails, bank withdrawals, todo notes, instagram, twitter, facebook type things, missed calls, etcetc without going to individual apps or websites.. I haven't really seen too much integration with online forums yet but I'm sure it's coming soon)

Oppps! You are right of course. I will see if I can correct that. I'm a Newbie and Survey Monkey
It would be nice if the standard navigation links were available on the 'new' or 'active' or 'your' posts views (on all views), meaning ones like these: Board index ‹ Google SketchUp Community Forums ‹ Newbie Forum, etc..
Very likely that has been covered, as well as the desire for alphabetized plugin list on the main plugin page.
I'll agree with the desire for better search returns and less limits on permissible searches.

Well, the "Board index" should indeed be available. However the list of all forums (like Newbie) would probably be an overkill. The "Active topics", "My posts" etc. are actually search results so practically you end up on the search page.

Yes, it has been mentioned and yes, the plugin index (or any means listing / sorting the plugins) would be nice to get a face lift. Currently it's just a forum post (however cleverly "programmed" post)
I would like the ability to take private notes on other members, and have them appear in the left sidebar below there general info and avatar. (Similar to the way you can take notes on other players on a poker gamesite.)
I haven't read everything, so I apologize if I'm covering something said already. I've been at work training for a week and have several pages of SCF to catch up on.
* Read new posts - I don't discriminate by forum. You never know what you'll find that is interesting.
As far as forum improvements:
A hosted, organized database of plugins. Perhaps selling the paid plugins with a commission could help offset some of the costs to SCF.
A proper gallery of completed projects, perhaps with a community rating system.
Vetted, quality models for sale.
Many of these ideas have been discussed in some way already on the forums and didn't make it, but the most useful ones to the average user in my opinion would be the organized plugin database and the gallery of artwork.
I have mentioned this before at a different time: Some way in the Post A Reply page/window to display the path from Board Index>..*..>..*..>*Subforum*. I just believe it would be a handy reminder, and could help to make a better response to the person asking the question.
I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.
I appreciate this effort to keep the forum current and pertinent to the membership.
Mostly I come for the input and advice given by members to questions be it from newbies or longstanding members, and things like sharing materials as well. As such I agree that searching for something is usually frustrating, so if that could somehow be tweaked it would be great. Also uploading more than one image at a time would be welcomed. Also standard navigation links on view new posts, your posts etc.
Nothing really new, just some reinforcement. (Oh, and as an aside: I really miss the "Render This" posts, particularly the ones on technical topics that really help you learn)
Something curious: we can't go outside by a double clic on a Youtube video loaded on the forum! Just copy past the link at the end of the video or given by the "Watch on Youtube""
Frenchy Pilou Is beautiful that please without concept! Speedy Galerie

The "Board index" does not seem to be available, as is shown here. I was not looking for anything more than that which is shown on a non-search page. I would like the forum links shown on a search page, perhaps the most commonly used here (as I read the comments anyway), include the standard links 'Board index ‹ Google SketchUp Community Forums, etc.', including at least the nine main forums.

I did not say it's there - I said it should be there. I.e. it would be good if it were there. Still, apart from the board index, why exactly that string of links should be there? If another member visits the corner bar more often, he would like the corner bar to be there, not the newbie.
Curious thing I check New Posts several times threw out the day but this is the first time I saw this thread 2 days after it started. Maybe browser Chrome?
Just a couple of things, I saw at one time a key or explanation of icons on far left some are self explanation some not so much. It's a great forum with a wealth of info but sometimes hard to find. I belong to Lumberjocks site and I like their layout and maybe more visually more interesting most forums are pretty much text only with attached pics but it has more curb appeal and with the talent here the forum should reflect that. Still would be in the dark ages without SCF.

OK, I misunderstood you. I mentioned the nine main forums as that keeps the quibbles at bay. Otherwise you/they be the Decider.

It is amazing how many people do not seem to notice the sticky threads. Recently a new user (within the month,) asked a question, that lead me to answer directing them to a sticky thread. He responded favorably and said something like: "Wow that's a new one, didn't know that was there."

* Fix the email notification for new posts in a thread. I still haven't been getting any I subscribe to or the one I made. Yes, I have it set to do so in my settings.

They are working fine for me. Can you check your Spam folder?
This stopped working for me a while back, for almost two months I think. Posted a thread about it. Then it started working again, for no apparent reason.

I'm kind of excited right now as I have been getting notified of posts in this thread ever since I posted that! Weird, huh?

Here: viewtopic.php?p=6236#p6236 I am not sure however that we should put it out to the front index to take real estate continuously.
OG1 wrote:...Clicking on a link opens a new tab...
I guess it would be annoying f all internal links also opened in a new tab. I spend half my day on the forums: imagine ho much tabs I would have open. Once someone gets used to clicking on external links with the middle mouse button, they open in new tabs nicely. Certainly there are different, nifty javascript examples all over the net that hack a site to automatically open an external link in a new window (not tab though but you can set your browser to open a tab instead of a window).
At the beginning, we were discussing this option. We can think about it again if this is really needed but as I said, you can always click with a MMB any time.
