Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.6.0b) — 13 November 2011
Right, I see. First of all, that is an old model and it need to be updated to work with the latest version of QF. As mentioned in the description, the definition of Quads has changed so one need to use the Sandbox to Quadface function. Second: I don't see how you would be able to copy anything in that model. As it only contains an unmapped surface and a single mapped face. The UV Mapping tool can be used though. UV Copy and Paste is to copy from surface to surface. If you where to copy the UV from the face and apply that to the surface it'd only map a single quad - not the whole surface. Thomas Thomassen — SketchUp Monkey & Coding addict

Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.6.0b) — 13 November 2011So, why is it not possible to map the entire surface with the image following these steps?
after selecting the entire surface and choosing sandbox quadface tools I: 1. turned hidden lines off . 2. selected the surface. 3. activated your paste button. and nothing happens. The su logo is copied into memory thats how I was able to map to the smaller rectangles.
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.6.0b) — 13 November 2011Do you open the group? You cannot apply mapping to the outside of a group or component.
Also - why do you want to use copy/paste? In this case it won't map the texture over the whole surface, just fill one of the quads. If you want to map the whole surface you should use the UV mapping tool. Thomas Thomassen — SketchUp Monkey & Coding addict

Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.6.0b) — 13 November 2011I guess i dont understand how your plugin works:(
I thought it makes possible mapping texture on curved surfaces without distortions. How is this plugin differ from su texture projection method? Your right copy paste only worked on one quad. I want to simply map the logo on the entire Curved surface. I certain this works w su's projection, i just trying to umderstand the true avantage of your plugin and its optimum use.
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.6.0b) — 13 November 2011Thomthom's plugin is a lot more useful than projection. Have you a file to map you can share?
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.6.0b) — 13 November 2011
Then you want to use the UV Mapping feature. There's a YouTube video that demonstrates it. Have you seen it? Thomas Thomassen — SketchUp Monkey & Coding addict

Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.6.0b) — 13 November 2011Hi Thom,
why after putting QuadFaceTools 0.6.0 in the plugin folder of SketchUp Pro 8 this message appears? Thanks and regards, Tony Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums.
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.6.0b) — 13 November 2011The error says you need another script to supplement this one.
The script you need is Thomthoms Lib v2. If you read the download link in this thread you'll notice it mentions it under requirements https://bitbucket.org/thomthom/quadface ... i/Download You can get Libv2 here... viewtopic.php?f=323&t=30503

Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012Hello!
I need your help. I'm doing a bridge and I have a problem in texture. I wanted the texture is accompanied by the span of the bridge. Thanks, nfmdias Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums.
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012You must create quads for the span of the bridge - then you can use the UV tool to map it.

You must tell CurviLoft to generate Quads. Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums. Thomas Thomassen — SketchUp Monkey & Coding addict

Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012may I give a suggestion?
a way to convert version 5 (4?) pseudo quads into version 6 (newest). It's easier for me to use the eraser tool and hide the lines than selecting the lines I want and then changing the properties to make them a quad face

Not the most obvious - but I figured the early version where not adopted so widely that there would be that many needing it. Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums. Thomas Thomassen — SketchUp Monkey & Coding addict

Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012I forgot the "or" in "version 6(newest), and I didn't know that the sandbox2quad feature worked for version 5(4?) quads. Anyway, thanks for telling me that. I would never have found out otherwise
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012
I've been meaning to improve the documentations. Will probably do so when I release the next update. I merged the "Upgrade old QuadFace mesh" function with "Convert from Sandbox" because I wanted to reduce the number of buttons and menu items. Thomas Thomassen — SketchUp Monkey & Coding addict

Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012UV Mapping onto Back Faces?
Hi thomthom Is there a way to get the UV mapping tool within QuadFaceTools to map textures onto back faces as well? I tried using thrupaint from Fredo but the UI is a lot more complex than the UV tool native to quadfacetools. Also it seems to deal with tranformations differently so it's really hard to get the back faces to match the front faces. I'm thinking this will be useful for mapping textures with alpha channel, e.g. fencing, where you can actually see through to the back faces beyond. Have attached an image as an example. cheers joel Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums.
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012The latest version of my "FixReversedFacesmaterials" Toolset includes a new tool to apply the front-material onto the back of selected faces, keep matching UVmapping of textures etc... Unlike the other tools in the set it doesn't 'flip faces', it just matches the back-material to be like the front-material but UVmapped so both textures align - which is useful with 'see-throughs'...
See here viewtopic.php?p=264134#p264134 It should work perfectly with your mapped example 'latticework' material onto both faces... TIG
