Mech Fish [Video] - UPDATED AGAIN!

Mech Fish [Video] - UPDATED AGAIN!

Postby boofredlay » Wed Apr 13, 2011 2:35 pm

Here is a recording of me modeling the Mech Fish for the Speed Modeling Challenge #38.
It is 3x speed so take your motion sickness pill and hold on :D
Remember this was for speed so I did make some mistakes... go easy on me.
Also you can view it as high as 1080P in HD if you wish, just choose your resolution.

Congrats Box for winning this one (an hour from now ;) )

Here is a version without audio, hope it works for those previously blocked.

Here is a version in real time.

Hi Eric,

That's awesome. I'm new around here, and I've just learnt more in 9-and-a-bit minutes than I would have done in hours trying it on my own.

Wonderful!

Cheers

This really sucks on YT. This one is not blocked but some others are here as well. Then many of the National Geographic movies are completely blocked here.

Well the block maybe from the music I used. I will see if I have the Windows Media file I used to compile this and upload a version without music. Stay tuned...

No need to re-upload, just use audioswap.

These days I get music for videos from CCMixter. No problems reported so far.

BTW, you can sometimes get around geo restrictions with Expat Shield.

Hey, audioswap is cool, I had not seen that before. I do need to edit the video however as if I use audio swap there will still be a graphic that tells what artist I uploaded.

I thought I had the file at home but evidently it is at work, that or I deleted it... hopefully not.

If you use audioswap, You can create a comment overlay to cover up the part that tells who the original artist was, and who the new artist is.

BTW, cool screen capture video...thanks for that! :thumb:

I am impressed. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Curious about one thing, the vids were too fast to grasp something you did very efficiently that I do very often, but nowhere near as quick.

When you drew a 1/2 section then flip-copied it to form a whole piece, how exactly did you do that?

I see a dialog box flash on the screen then poof, there is a flip-copy welded to the original.

Is that part of native SU or a plugin?

Not native. It is the Mirror ruby by TIG.

Phew!! that was nauseating!!AWESOME MATE! :berserk: Great job done..!! Still can't believe what i saw...! The way you've used Artisan is amazing. knowing exactly where to draw lines, which lines to move to get just the right kind of structure for bones... And was that the Curviloft plugin used for modelling the mouth of the fish? Great job and great video... and the music was very in sync with the vid..

That comes from using Artisan on a regular basis and knowing how it will respond.

mukul.ar wrote:And was that the Curviloft plugin used for modelling the mouth of the fish?

Nope, just the Follow Me and Scale tools.

Oh, how did I miss this one?
The video makes me want to cry
Tell me you don't work at this speed... even if I know what I'm doing and carefully plan the model, just to pick a tool takes me a couple of seconds.
No need to say that the model is good, I think I already said that when the contest took place :D
Thanks for the video. not a tut, cause I can't even follow the pointer!

I also would love to see it moving :D

Ok Karina I found the full version and have uploaded it to Youtube.
I edited the original post and added the video there.
Seriously though, I think it is much more boring

Here is a rendered video I made of the Mech Fish. Twilight Render.
I will warn you ahead of time, it is choppy and very short.
This was a fun exercise but it is getting to be a bit too much work for a couple seconds of choppy video. I almost have the animation bug now however. Is it time to find another modeling app???

Anyway, here is probably the last one of these. That is unless I get bored and decide to make this 60 layers rather than 20
