Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingWow!
![]() Which leads me to ask a question that I have been wondering for some time. I will use Box's entry as an example. If he modeled the net, rope, deck, and buoy components all in 30 minutes, could he then after the time arrange everything? (e.g. copy and rotate additional nets, rope, and buoys and placement of these as well as changing the style in SketchUp etc. to match the mood of his model.) I thought this is within the rules as nothing is said against it and he finished all the modeling within the limit. If someone could clear this up, that would be great. Note: I am not saying Box went over the time limit. I was just using his fine entry as an example. ![]() Last edited by SketchUpNoobie on Wed Apr 06, 2011 9:17 pm, edited 1 time in total.

SketchUpNoobie: the complete noob in all things SketchUp. Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingNo and I guess we can be more clear in the coming competitions.
Start to finish, 30 min.
Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingOoh, okay. Thanks for clearing that up.
![]() That makes his model even more awesome then. ![]() --
SketchUpNoobie: the complete noob in all things SketchUp. Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingThe screenshots can be taken after the 30 minutes though, right?

SketchUpNoobie: the complete noob in all things SketchUp. Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingSure, just no more modeling or tweaking.
Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingGotcha. Thanks.

SketchUpNoobie: the complete noob in all things SketchUp. Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingEric or Oganocali its got to be..! Really innovative techniques employed by both of you..
![]() Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingSo much fun to watch this....always. I'm lodging a formal protest! The challenge has evolved to a level that requires more than one vote. I cannot honestly enjoy voting for one anymore. I cannot refuse a vote for any of the top three here.
I know...I know, your forums php template only allows one vote per user ...right?...ok ![]()

Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - Voting
Actually, it could be more - it has just never been a practice. Maybe we could re-consider this (also maybe according to the number of submissions, something like "up to 5 submissions, 1 vote, between 6 and 10, 2 votes" etc. This would not mean "weighing" between these two, cast votes however. It would mean "these to are my favourite". In such a case, it should always be made very clear in the voting announcement however that "you can cast two votes, three votes..." etc. Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingI think it is time now. Once upon a time when we were all getting the hang of this often a single entry would stick out. But not anymore. There are at least 3 or 4 entries that are always neck and neck. I would personally have more fun with it if I could extend my pondering.
Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - Voting
After the comp. I don't want to sway any votes although I think Box is taking this one ![]()
Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - Voting
I think we just might look into this. Thanks.
Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingI think you can set to number of votes for polls but not quite sure?

Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - Voting
Those were mine. ![]() If I make it look easy. . .then it probably is.
Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - Voting
See what happens David when you don't submit an entry, everyone gets confused and just votes randomly. ![]() Thanks for the votes so far but it should be noted that the actual modelling in mine is rather basic, there is a lot more skill involved in many of the other entries. Oganocali's knot, for one, is a masterwork of line placement. Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingThis competition isn't over yet!

Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingUh, oh. Box must wear the purple box of shame.

Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingI had two ideas for the next one.
Sort of following on in theme from the last, Camping. That gives quite a broad range of options. Or something a little different. Meccano. I thought that would be interesting because you are virtual modelling with a modelling tool. I have created a small beginner set that people could download so everyone starts at the same point rather than spending all the time just making the pieces. You can use the basics I have made then add to them however you want. I can attach my Meccano set here later today and let you guys decide, I'll be heading off into the North sea for a few days this afternoon, so I won't have much connection. Let me know what you think. Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingI had to look up what meccano is... Then I realised I had something similar when I was a kid. I really enjoyed that toy
(We did not have Lego in the 60's-70's for instance but later I enjoyed that, too). Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingYep, sorry about that, showing my age again.
A quick google for you youngns will explain it. Many hours of fun and the start of many an engineers career. Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingI like camping

Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingI like camping too
![]() "Aquel que sacrifica un poco de libertad por seguridad, no se merece ninguna y terminará perdiendo ambas"
-Benjamín Franklin. Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingCamping is probably a good idea, the meccano may be too restricting, but I'll attach it here in case it's of interest.
Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingCongrats Box, and thanks for your comments. I like the camping idea better too.
Re: Speed Modelling #38 - Fishing - VotingCongrats, Box - I have now changed your colour to that ugly purple.
![]() Also, no hurry with the next challenge idea (you have 5 more minutes so take your time) ![]()
