[Plugin] Boolean--OSCoolean (Oct 2010) for SU 8 free versionRe: Boolean--OSCoolean Beta (18/12/2008)Thank you very much for this brilliant rb. Would you mind to share us the brief idea of the mechanism of this plugin? I want to do a union thing, but find it quite hard to do it without any guide.
Best regards Narongwit
Re: Boolean--OSCoolean Beta (18/12/2008)For those who are saying nothing happens, well, you have to make each object a group/component. I was having the same problems like some of you until i made each object separate from eachother. When you place them together you choose one object then right click to the plugin and choose "cut" and depending of which object you chose you'll get the "negative" or "positive" cut. Although, I think there is a bug when you place an object in a severe angle inside, it tends to cut almost all of the opposite object leaving expose in the air only the hole that the other object traced. I wonder if the creator of this plugin is still working on the new release.
Re: Boolean--OSCoolean Beta (18/12/2008)looks great !
tried both OSCoolean.rbs and OSCoolean.rb but neither worked... I'm using SU6 under MacOS X 10.5 OS. any working version for mac ? thanks a lot
Re: [Plugin] Boolean--OSCoolean Beta (18/12/2008)hi,
just out of curiosity how does the OSCoolean differ from the commercial booltools plugin?
Re: [Plugin] Boolean--OSCoolean Beta (18/12/2008)In theory nothing but in practice that is an another story
Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free verFor the information of te "rest of the World", Oscarlok updated the plugin (see the first post as of October 2010) for SU 8.
He just forgot to add a new post or bump the topic otherwise. Gai...
Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free verOSCAR
In your Oct release, only three icons are displayed. And the last two, cut and intersect perform the same function. Thanks for your work with this plugin. Ken Government rushes to help the irresponsible and does little for the responsible.
Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free ver
Hello Ken, I am sorry for that! I have changed it to the New OCT version. The previous one is still Sept version. Thanks Ken Oscar
Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free verDoes it work in SU 7.1 as well?
Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free ver
This is a SU 8 only。Maybe in the next next version。。。。
Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free verthanks oscarlok, just collecting reasons to upgrade, you know
Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free verI never could get the version for Sketchup7 to work??

Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free verBumping this just in case someone knows a solution to making the older version work in SU7?

Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free verSomeone said that disable SketchyPhysics permits to use OSCoolean in V7 (?)
Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free verI do not have Sketchyphysics. Must be some other tool. I will try to run it with the console on, capture and post back.

Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free verHere's what I get trying to Intersect a simple cylinder group and a cube group which I set overlapping or coincident in the same location :
Error: #<NoMethodError: undefined method `entities' for #<Sketchup::ComponentInstance:0x6775c40>> (eval):573:in `get_grocom' (eval):570:in `each' (eval):570:in `get_grocom' (eval):588:in `Preset' (eval):713:in `Intersect' (eval):823 (eval):823:in `call' I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.
Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free ver
ComponentInstance doesn't have an entities method - you need to access the definition. There are some plugins that adds .entities to ComponentInstance and I've seen some other plugins that also made the assuption taht this method existed. Thomas Thomassen — SketchUp Monkey & Coding addict

Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free verHi, ThomThom:
Thanks for your quick response. Unfortunately, you're talking way over my head I mean, I see what you're writing but I don't know what I'm reading What means 'grocom' ?? I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free verYou did note that this is for V7? I am not ready for V8 just yet.

Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free verI love this plugin but wasn't able to get it to work with SU 7.1, I know its for v-8 but was hoping someone had a fix!
Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free ver
and what is the problem to not load the V8 in another folder and save as V7.skp ?
Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free ver
Nothing I was just wondering if it was a fix for v7.1 is all.
Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free verThanks for this, very excited. I just upgraded to 8 for this, but the plugin isn't showing up. Are there any dependencies or known conflicts that could be at fault?
My Sketchup 8 plugins folder only has the folders Oscar, Cadspan, JPP_Dir_15, LIBFREDO6_Dir_34, Ocean, TIGtools, TOS_Dir_16 plus Utilities, plus the rb files OSCoolean, deBabelizer, extrubeEdgesby(various things), jointpushpull, LibFredo6, LibTraductor, loop_subdiv, ocean_extension, su2stl, ZLoader_OnSurface and utilities, if that for some reason makes it obvious to anyone. I'm on 7 Pro. Thank you very much, whether or not you can point out what's wrong! Last edited by DoodleDown on Thu Oct 28, 2010 7:00 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free ver
Do you have the Oscar folder inside your plugins folder in 8? or try to unzip the OSCoolean again into your plugins folder in 8, please. Oscar
Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free verYeah, I downloaded and unzipped the folder and the file into Plugins several times. Mucho wierd.
Re: [ver Oct] Boolean--OSCoolean(Oct 2010) for SU 8 free verMaybe you need enable OSCoolean toolbar? If I recall right, OSCoolean toolbar is not automatically enabled.
