Please, please, take this opportunity to find a theme that doesn't produce the dreaded scrollbars in images.

Hi. I have no complaints regarding this new theme, although, I prefer to have the user info (avatar, SU version, etc.) on the left. Also, there is a button "Post a Reply", but it is put on top of the "Reply" button. Can you get rid of one of those buttons? ;)

I posted a few large renders recently via imgur; I find that in the new forum layout about one third of these images gets chopped off (no left-right scroll option). is there a max pixel size limiation to images on the new setup?

Ok, I just tried with a 1280x720 and a 640x450 blank images, and I get scroll bars on both with this default theme.

I understand that the Xand theme is scrollbar-free, why not build your new theme from that?

Re: New (Temp) Theme

Postby Dan Rathbun » Mon Mar 15, 2010 7:19 pm

I like the buttons in this theme better than the last one. Much easier to read.

I appreciate that I can stretch the window as wide as I want, and the messages, code boxes and edit-post boxes grow horizontally. The old theme only grew so wide. But I wish both the code boxes and edit boxes were taller.

Syntax Hiliting in code boxes would be great.

Another thing:

I wish the "Subscribe topic" & "Bookmark topic" buttons were big buttons on the same lines (top & bottom) as the "Post Reply" button. (They're too small and way down the bottom (like at rock bottom.)

Hm...Must be my slow internet, the buttons that overlapped are gone now. I was thinking of a more metallic look as for the new theme...A wirebrushed accent or 2 metal would look nice in here somewhere. By the way, are there any mmore smilies coming? :)

On the whole, I like the new look.

I see,as I type this, there have been some changes made in the text I use. Cool!

Keep it goin'!

Coen, with the Xand theme you can set it, for example, to automatically generate a thumbnail 800px in width when the image exceeds 800px, and it will never, ever show scroll bars for images when properly set, unlike the default theme (At least that was my experience). This should be enough to avoid people with smaller monitors having to scroll the forum. I believe the theme used by the Indigo Renderer forum is similarly configured.

I agree, i preferred the old style but it is important to note that the change is due to an upgrade in the forum software (with which the old style isnt compatible), so it isnt a case of just switching it back, youd have to code/design an entirely new theme.

Yeah it takes a little while to get used to new things. It was a case of upgrading that could not be put off any longer. In time we probably will be able to fine tune this theme but I imagine everybody will be used to it by then ;)

What improvements does this new version offer over the previous? I like the full width posts but not enjoying the color scheme.

Nice to see the forums getting an update. Can we expect some other changes in the future?

To be honest, I actually hated the old style. I found it to be cluttered and confusing at times. Additionally, the bottom "reply" was always an ad but it looked like part of the message thread. That confused me for the first while when I originally joined.
I actually find this default theme to be fine. Please don't try and recreate the old look. If you must change it, make it something completely new and fresh!
